On the use of a peptidase inhibitor (trasylol) for storage of I125-labelled peptide hormones (HGH,TSH, ACTH,insulin, glucagon,PTH)

Zusammenfassung Von den untersuchten J¹²⁵-markierten Peptidhormonen sind HGH und TSH auch ohne Trasylol gut haltbar. Die mässige Degradation von Insulin und die rasch zunehmende Degradation von PTH und Glukagon kann durch Trasylol (500 E/ml) verhindert werden. Für ACTH ist eine Kombination von Trasylol mit 0.5% Mercaptoethanol erforderlich.     

Inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme by analogs of peptides fromBothrops jararaca venom

Zusammenfassung Nachweis mit Analogen der im Gifte vonBothrops jararaca gefundenen Peptide, dass die Inhihibition des Angiotensins «converting enzyme» von zwei eindeutigen Teilsequenzen dieser Peptide abhängig ist. Die hohe spezifische kompetitive Inhibition, hervorgerufen durch die Peptide vonBothrops jararaca, wird der Bindung ihrer Tripeptidreste vom Carboxyterminus mit dem aktiven Zentrum des Enzyms zugeschrieben, die in gleicher Weise wie die Peptidsubstrate mit dem Enzym gebunden werden. Die Wirksamkeit der Giftpeptide hängt von der Bindung eines zweiten Teiles der Peptide mit dem Enzym ab.     

Comparison of the localization of several muscle proteins in relaxed and contracted myofibrils.

The localization of several muscle proteins in relaxed and contracted myofibrils is compared. The morphology of the myofibrils and the behavior of these proteins was also investigated under extraction conditions.     

Bone marrow genotoxicity of N-methyl, N-nitrosourea (NMU): n-alkanols as sister chromatid exchange (SCE) anti-inducers

The in vivo SCE test was used to demonstrate significant inhibition of NMU bone marrow genotoxicity by pretreatment of Chinese hamsters with n-alkanols. Our findings exclude a loss of intracellular DNA alkylation potential through a competitive direct reaction of NMU with the weakly nucleophilic polar end of the n-alkanols, but not through methylations of nucleophilic membrane sites possibly liberated by structural modifications which the membrane-active amphiphilics induce.
