High-performance reversed-phase liquid chromatography (HPLC) of favism-inducing factors inVicia faba L.

Summary A HPLC assay for L-Dopa, convicine, and vicine in broad-bean extracts has been developed. The distribution of these compounds in the different organs of the plant has been studied, especially in the seeds, where their presence may cause favism if the beans are used as food.Work supported by C.N.R. through Progetto Finalizzato Miglioramento delle produzioni vegetali per fini alimentari ed industriali mediante interventi genetici. Genetic control by the HLA region of the immune response to factor VIII in hemophilic patients]

In 10 sibships of haemophilic A patients, every one including 1 haemophilic brother with an antibody to factor VIII and 1 haemophilic brother without antibody, pattern of HLA segregation was analysed. All sibships were HLA haploidentical or different and not HLA identical. This fact suggested a linkage between the major histocompatibility complex and an "Ir" gene to factor VIII.     

Effect of insulin on immunological phagocytosis by macrophages.

It was shown that, in physiological concentrations, insulin enhances, in vitro, the immunological phagocytosis of sensitized sheep erythrocytes by cultured mouse peritoneal macrophages. Insulin seems to stimulate macrophage phagocytosis as a cholinomimetic agonist by increasing the intracellular levels of cyclic GMP.     

Structure specificity of some immunoadjuvant synthetic glycopeptides

Summary The immunoadjuvant activity of muramyl dipeptide seems to be critically dependent on the type of substitution of the -carboxyl group of the D-isoglutamine residue. Moreover the nonapeptide L-Ala-D-isoGlu-L-Lys-D-Ala-(Gly)₅-OME also shows a definite effect.     

Pyrogen fever in rabbits pretreated with p-chlorophenylalanine or 5, 6-dihydroxytryptamine.

The hyperthermic effect of a bacterial pyrogen has been studied in rabbits pretreated or not with p-chlorophenylalanine or 5, 6-dihydroxytryptamine. The results obtained indicate that a selective reduction of cerebral 5-hydroxytryptamine levels by these drugs do not significantly affect pyrogen hypertermia.     

Effect of X-537A on the phosphorylated protein in sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles

Summary The effect of the antibiotic X-537A on the phosphorylated ATPase (EP) was investigated. The results show that X-537A depresses the level of EP which is dependent on the Ca²⁺ gradient, while the Ca²⁺-independent EP is not affected. Acknowledgments. 基于Logistic映射的图像保密通信

将Logistic映射产生的混沌序列作为载波，利用序列具有的良好相关特性，提出了一种图像保密通信方案。计算机仿真结果表明，只要收发双方使用相同的初值条件，即使在有一定噪声的情况下也能正确地进行图像传输，而初值的微小差异将导致通信失败，表明混沌序列用于保密通信具有很高的安全性能，同时方案具有很强的抗干扰能力。对图像恢复质量进行了评估，并给出了误比特率与码片长度的经验公式。
