Polyploidisierung von Getreidearten durch Lindan-haltige Beizmittel

Summary After treatment ofHordeum vulgare, Secale cereale, Triticum aestivum andAvena sativa with Lindan-containing seed dressings, the somatic chromosomes in the root tip mitoses were analyzed. Most of the chromosome sets in the root tip cells have been polyploidized. Using pure Lindan (-hexachlorocyclohexane), it could be shown that this insecticide is responsible for the induction of polyploidy.

Summary Live gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria cause circular and chemotactic eccentric promotion of leucocyte emigration in a similar manner. In the case of gramnegative bacteria this effect corresponds to that of their polysaccharides, whereas in the case of gram-positive bacteria the polysaccharides are inactive.Thus, although gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria both have a similar effect on leucocyte emigration, the underlying mechanism of action is different.

Summary -Methyl-noradrenalin synthesized after pretreatment of the guinea-pig with -methyl-dopa was found to be localized, like noradrenalin, mainly in the granular fraction 100 000g of the heart and in the fraction of the chromaffin granules of the suprarenal medulla (15000 g). -Methyl-adrenalin could not bo found.

Summary CIBA 21 401-Ba, a glucofuranoside derivative (ethyl-3,5,6-O-benzyl-d-glucofuranoside), antagonizes in vitro the smooth-muscle action of a large number of biogenic amines and polypeptides, the accelerated migration of leucocytes induced by endotoxin, and the Schultz-Dale phenomenon. In vivo, the compound shows anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects and improves the survival rate of infected mice treated with suboptimal doses of a sulphonamide.
