Summary The migration of leucocytes from the buffy coat of chicken blood is slightly but irregulatly inhibited by cortison. If migration of leucocytes is increased by proteus lipopolysaccharide, cortison in concentrations of 10^–4–10^–6, and other anti-inflammatory steroids, produce a pronounced and constant inhibition of leucocytic migration.     

Sexual reproduction selects for robustness and negative epistasis in artificial gene networks

The mutational deterministic hypothesis for the origin and maintenance of sexual reproduction posits that sex enhances the ability of natural selection to purge deleterious mutations after recombination brings them together into single genomes. This explanation requires negative epistasis, a type of genetic interaction where mutations are more harmful in combination than expected from their separate effects. The conceptual appeal of the mutational deterministic hypothesis has been offset by our inability to identify the mechanistic and evolutionary bases of negative epistasis. Here we show that negative epistasis can evolve as a consequence of sexual reproduction itself. Using an artificial gene network model, we find that recombination between gene networks imposes selection for genetic robustness, and that negative epistasis evolves as a by-product of this selection. Our results suggest that sexual reproduction selects for conditions that favour its own maintenance, a case of evolution forging its own path.     

Plcd1转基因小鼠的制备

通过制备Plcd1转基因小鼠研究Plcd1基因功能.首先逆转录PCR获得约2.2kb的Plcd1基因全长,T载体克隆后测序验证;以pMD19-T-Plcd1为模板,通过设计引物及PCR扩增引入酶切位点,与pEF6/V5-His同时进行酶切、连接,构建pEF6/V5-His-Plcd1表达载体;经真核表达验证后,酶切获得目标片段,显微注射681枚受精卵,在82只仔鼠中获得转基因阳性首建鼠15只,其中13只稳定遗传并建系.PLCD1-HIS融合蛋白在睾丸组织中表达,在皮肤组织中无表达.Plcd1转基因小鼠为Plcd1功能研究奠定了基础.     

An Efficient Topography Adaptive Filter for Insar Processing

An efficient implementation of the topography adaptive filter based on local frequency estimation is proposed, where chirpz transform is applied to enhance the accuracy of the frequency estimation. As a byproduct of this adaptive filter, the linear approximated phase model of the interferogram is employed to improve the coherence estimation. The impacts of the adaptive filter on global and local phase unwrapping algorithms are discussed. Finally, aiming at the negative effect that the adaptive filter can bring to local phase unwrapping algorithms, a fusion scheme that takes advantage of least square and several local phase unwrapping algorithms is presented.

The antibody concentration was considerably higher in these animals as in the other non-protected group reinjected with the highest tolerated antigen dosage.
