Pyrogen fever in rabbits pretreated with p-chlorophenylalanine or 5, 6-dihydroxytryptamine.

The hyperthermic effect of a bacterial pyrogen has been studied in rabbits pretreated or not with p-chlorophenylalanine or 5, 6-dihydroxytryptamine. The results obtained indicate that a selective reduction of cerebral 5-hydroxytryptamine levels by these drugs do not significantly affect pyrogen hypertermia.     

Effect of X-537A on the phosphorylated protein in sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles

Summary The effect of the antibiotic X-537A on the phosphorylated ATPase (EP) was investigated. The results show that X-537A depresses the level of EP which is dependent on the Ca²⁺ gradient, while the Ca²⁺-independent EP is not affected. Acknowledgments. Does an inhibitor of mitochondrial adenylate kinase also affect oxidative phosphorylation?

Summary Adenylate kinase activity of intact mitochondria is strongly inhibited by Ap₅A, i.e.p ¹,p ⁵-Di (adenosine-5-) pentaphosphate, whereas oxidative phosphorylation is not affected. Therefore, Ap₅A is a useful tool to distinguish between oxidative and non oxidative ATP generating reactions.Acknowledgment. Blood plasma investigations by resonance raman spectroscopy: Detection of carotenoid pigments

Summary Using Raman spectroscopy, we demonstrate that low levels of -carotene, lycopene, and xanthophyll give rise to resonance enhanced bands in blood plasma. These results explain the significance of previously unidentified spectral maxima which have been related to the state of health of the blood donor.

Summary Assays of 8 synthetic analogues of human calcitonin in rats showed that their hypocalcaemic activity was drastically reduced by deletion of the C-terminal amide group, chain-shortening or opening of the disulphide ring, but unaffected or enhanced by modification of the N-terminal amino group.

4-Isothiocyanato-4′-nitrodiphenylamine (C9333-Go/CGP 4540) an anthelminthic with an unusual spectrum of activity against intestinal nematodes,filariae and schistosomes

Summary 4-isothiocyanato-4-nitrodiphenylamine was found to possess activity against intestinal nematodes in mice, against schistosomes in various hosts including primates and against two filarial species in the mongolian jird. Upon administration in a single oral dose it is equally effective againstS. haematobium, S. mansoni andS. japonicum.     

Influence of cyclic nucleotides on protein synthesis in vascular smooth muscle

Summary The incorporation of leucice-¹⁴C into protein in bovine mesenteric arteries was augmented by cyclic GMP (10^–3 M) and decreased by cyclic AMP (10^–3 M). There was no effect of 5 AMP (10^–3 M). The phosphodiesterase inhibiting drugs theophylline (10^–3 M) and papaverine (5×10^–5 g/ml) both decreased the leucine-¹⁴C incorporation.We are indebted to Mrs.Lena Burlin for hear assistance. 总结了不同模式适用于不同应用的一般规律，分析了常用模式的内涵及侧重点，提出了设计模式应用于软件设计的策略，即抽象求解问题、划分问题类型、模式初选、模式匹配、根据问题进行模式变体、软件体系结构细化、设计优化、性能优化及设计质量度量．通过电力行业绘图平台的实际应用，给出了基于软件度量标准下的系统稳定性参数的计算方法．分析与实地测试表明，所提策略能够优化软件的设计及性能，为使用者提供了一种快速选取设计模式的途径．     

曝气生物流化床处理炼油厂含硫和高氨氮污水的研究

炼油厂含硫污水因含高浓度的油、COD、硫化物及挥发酚而难于生化降解，催化剂生产中排放的污水因含高浓度的氨氮、盐类、悬浮物质以及低浓度的有机物而成为水处理的难题．本文采用一种曝气生物流化床（ABFT）工艺，对含硫污水和催化剂高氨氮污水的混合污水进行了现场连续试验，结果表明：在混合污水COD为2090mg／L、氨氮为600mg／L、挥发酚为27mg／L和硫化物为154mg／L的情况下，ABFT系统出水COD为95mg／L、氨氮为4．0mg／L、挥发酚为0．30mg／L和硫化物为0．0067mg／L，出水达到了国家污水排放标准一级标准．在处理工艺中，动态氧化和混凝沉淀作为预处理，ABFT反应器采用了合成高分子载体固定化微生物技术，该载体具有大孔网状以及优良的机械强度和化学性能，高效微生物B350通过化学键固定在载体上．克氏定氮法表明，ABFT中生物负载量为32mg／L．试验结果显示：在处理高氨氮污水方面，ABFT工艺比SBR工艺具有更强的优势，同时，ABFT系统具有较高的处理效率和耐冲击负荷能力．
