Radiation induced avoidance behavior transfer by brain extracts of mice

Zusammenfassung In «naiven» Mäusen werden Verhaltensveränderungen nach Injektion kleiner Mengen von Gehirnmaterial aus Saccharin bevorzugenden und röntgenbestrahlten Mäusen beobachtet. Es trat Vermeidung der Saccharinlösung ein, und zwar ähnlich wie sonst in «trainierten», Saccharin bevorzugenden Tieren nach der Bestrahlung.     

The relation between cell proliferation and adenylate cyclase activity in grafts of 3-methylcholanthrene induced mouse uterine cervical tumors

Summary In transplanted uterine cervical tumors, induced by 3-methylcholanthrene, a significant negative correlation was obtained between adenylate cyclase activity and cell proliferation.     

Preparation and properties of hexitol-lysyl conjugates

Summary The facile preparation of hexitol-lysyl derivatives is reported. Some of the properties of these compounds, particularly those relevant to protein structural studies, are described.Supported by grants from Medical Research Council of New Zealand, New Zealand Neurological Foundation and National Heart Foundation of New Zealand.     

The antennae and mating behaviour ofDrosophila females

Summary The females ofDrosophila bipectinata andD. malerkotliana are able to discriminate between their own and alien males in the absence of antennae. Thus mate recognition seems to depend on contact chemoreceptors in these 2 species.We are grateful to the Head of the Department of Zoology, B.H.U. for providing the necessary facilities. Ethylene production and cell wall formation in mesophyll protoplasts

Summary The regulation of ethylene synthesis, in relation to the presence of a new cell wall, has been investigated forNicotiana sylvestris leaf protoplasts. It is clear that the production of ethylene is not controlled by the new wall, which has no action on the ethylene formation. The addition of dichlorobenzonitrile to cultivated protoplasts causes the inhibition of wall formation, without any other apparent deleterious effects.
