Evidence of an ileal hormone inhibiting pancreatic secretion (ACP anticholecystokinine peptide)]

The contact of long and medium chain fatty acids with the ileal mucosa inhibits basal or stimulated pancreatic protein secretion of Man, Dog, Cat and Rat. This inhibition is due to an inhibitory factor transmitted by cross-circulation. We isolated from partially purified extracts of Pig ileum a peptide which inhibits strongly volume and protein pancreatic output of the conscious Rat. We propose to call this factor ACP, anticholecystokinine peptide.

Zusammenfassung Nach subkutaner Injektion von Polyvinylalkohollösung entwickeln Ratten innerhalb eines Monats arteriellen Hochdruck. Gleichzeitig beobachtet man Vergrösserung von Leber, Milz, Herz und Nieren, sowie Thymusatrophie, jedoch keine Nebennierenvergrösserung. Es wird daher vermutet, dass diese Hypertonie, ähnlich der durch Methylcellulose hervorgerufenen, eine Folge von gestörter intraglomerulärer Durchblutung ist.

Erycanosid,ein neues Herzglycosid ausErysimum canescens Roth

Summary By application of the counter-current method on extracts ofErysimum canescens Roth, four new crystalline glycosides have been isolated besides of Helveticoside and Erysimoside. The structure of one of them, named Erycanoside, has been determined as Strophanthidin--2-desoxy-D-glucosido-glucoside.     

Estrogen receptor in uteri of mice of differentH-2 genotypes

Some comparative studies of two alkaline phosphatases fromAspergillus niger

Summary Alkaline phosphatases (ALP I and ALP II), isolated and purified fromAspergillus niger exhibited broad specificity towards a wide variety of substrates, and consistently ALP II was more active than ALP I. It is possible that the difference in levels of activity of the 2 enzymes may be of physiological importance in the mycelia ofA. niger.     

Enhancement of virus growth produced by thiols and disulphides
