Kinetics of division in PHA-stimulated pig lymphocytes

Summary Our results indicate that pig lymphocytes in culture complete their 1st division at 24 h. Successive clutches induced by surgical excision of post-ovulatory oocytes in the lizard Cnemidophorus uniparens.

19 animals had eggs excised from the oviducts soon after ovulation. Number of clutches was nearly tripled in excised animals as compared to controls. An influence of eggs in the oviduct on number of clutches is suggested and may indicate a neuronal link between oviduct and hypothalamus.

The prospective study carried out by the International Agency for Research on Cancer on the relationships between E.B.V. infection and Burkitt's Lymphoma development as well as their partial malaria chemoprophylaxy proposals, are discussed as an example of studying the role of a virus and of co-factors in one human cancer.     

Production and characterization of antibody against aflatoxin M1

Antibody against aflatoxin M1 was obtained after immunization of rabbits with bovine serum albumin-afla M1 oxime conjugate. The antibody has greatest binding efficiency for afla M1, and was less efficient for afla B1. Cross-reaction of antibody with aflatoxin Q1, aflatoxicol, and aflatoxin B2a was weak. Aflatoxin B2, G1, and G2 and afla B1-guanine adducts showed almost no cross-reaction with the antibody. The sensitivity of the binding assay for aflatoxin M1 detection is in the range of 1-10 ng per assay. Detailed methods for the preparation of the conjugate, production of immune serum, and methods for antibody determination are described.
