Immunogenicity of fatty acid anilides in rabbits and the pathogenesis of the Spanish toxic oil syndrome

Fatty acid anilides, the major xenobiotic found in the cooking oils responsible for the Spanish toxic oil syndrome, are immunogenic for rabbits as ascertained by a skin test reaction, the characterization of specific antibodies against anilides and the immunofluorescent detection of 'anilide dependent antigens' in tissue slices from treated animals.     

Properties of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase, and glutathione levels in rat mammary gland

gamma-Glutamyltranspeptidase activity and glutathione levels were studied in rat mammary gland during the lactogenic cycle; both increased during mid-lactation. The enzyme's specific activity with several amino acids showed that glutamine and methionine were the best substrates. Maleate decreased the transpeptidation reaction and increased the hydrolytic activity. These results suggest that gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase from the mammary gland is similar to the enzyme described in other tissues in relation to these properties and the physiological role proposed in amino acids transport.     

The total synthesis of delphinine: A stereoselective synthesis of an advanced relay compound

Zusammenfassung Die stereoselektive Totalsynthese eines Delphininabbauproduktes wird beschrieben. Dieses Produkt, das 5 Ringe und 5 Substituenten besitzt, ist von Delphinin aus leicht zugänglich und kann deshalb als Relais-Verbindung für die Totalsynthese dieses Alkaloids dienen.

The degree of lipolysis of isolated fat cells from rats of different ages in relation to the triglyceride and nitrogen content

Zusammenfassung Die Freigabe unesterifizierter Fettsäuren in ein Medium aus isolierten Fettgewebezellen älterer Ratten (14 Monate) ist im Vergleich mit jüngeren Ratten (2 Monate) kleiner im Verhältnis zu den Triglyzeriden und nur unbedeutend in der Relation zum Stickstoff oder zum Volumen des Mediums.     

Effects of castration,estradiol and testosterone on tubulin levels of the medial basal hypothalamus and the adenohypophysis of the rat

Summary Tubulin levels of the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH) were greater in male than in female rats. Orchidectomy brought about a decrease of MBH tubulin concentration, whereas testosterone injection augmented it in the MBH and adenohypophysis.
