Ein chemisch und pharmakologisch neuartiger Antagonist von pathophysiologisch bedeutsamen Aminen,Kininen und kininbildenden Faktoren

Summary CIBA 21 401-Ba, a glucofuranoside derivative (ethyl-3,5,6-O-benzyl-d-glucofuranoside), antagonizes in vitro the smooth-muscle action of a large number of biogenic amines and polypeptides, the accelerated migration of leucocytes induced by endotoxin, and the Schultz-Dale phenomenon. In vivo, the compound shows anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects and improves the survival rate of infected mice treated with suboptimal doses of a sulphonamide.     

Licht- und elektronenmikroskopische Befunde an den Geschmacksknospen der Axolotlzunge

Summary The investigation of the taste buds in the tongue of the neotene Mexican axolotl (Siredon mexicanum) by light and electron microscopy demonstrates 4 different cell types: 1) R-cells, marginal cells of less differentiated character. 2) G-cells, granulated cells in basal position. 3) Cells of type A with fibrills, vesicular elements, and dark bodies, showing supporting and secretory function. 4) Cells of type B with an agranular endoplasmic reticulum in stripe like arrangement, supposed to be receptor cells.     

Stimulation of glucagon and inhibition of insulin secretion evoked from carotid baroreceptors

Summary The influence from carotid baroreceptors on portal immuno-reactive glucagon and insulin levels and on arterial plasma glucose concentration was studied in vagotomized cats by sectioning of the sinus nerves. Such a complete elimination of the afferent baroreceptor discharge caused a prompt and pronounced increase in the glucose and glucagon levels, whereas the insulin concentration significantly decreased. The role of vascular baroreceptors in the hyperglycemic response to hemorrhage is discussed.     

Effect of gum Arabic on aminopyrine demethylation in rats

Summary Stimulation of aminopyrine demethylation induced in rats by oral or i.p. administration of phenobarbital was partially inhibited in animals receiving daily treatments of 2×200 mg/kg gum Arabic p.o.     

Hemmung der durch Proteuslipopolysaccharide gesteigerten Leukozytenemigration in vitro durch antiinflammatorische Corticosteroide

Summary The migration of leucocytes from the buffy coat of chicken blood is slightly but irregulatly inhibited by cortison. If migration of leucocytes is increased by proteus lipopolysaccharide, cortison in concentrations of 10^–4–10^–6, and other anti-inflammatory steroids, produce a pronounced and constant inhibition of leucocytic migration.     

14-3-2 protein in rat brain synapses

Summary The distribution of the 14-3-2 protein in rat brain synapses was studied by immuno electron microscopy. The protein was localized to the postsynaptic web and to the postsynaptic membrane, but was also prominent both in the presynaptic membrane and in the presynaptic densities. Die bakteriostatische Wirkung von Chalkon,Flavanon, Flavon und Flavonol

Summary Chalcone, flavanone, flavone, and its derivatives had a certain bacteriostatic effect onSt. aureus. Flavonol has no activity and morin, a derivative of flavonol, showed only a weak inhibition of the bacterial growth.Cystein did not have any antagonistic effect.Extracts of drugs, which contain natural flavanones, flavones, isoflavones and flavonols, are more or less bacteriostatic.
