Zusammenfassung Die Synthese und die pharmakologischen Haupteigenschaften von Desamino²-Arginin-Vasopressin werden beschrieben. Dieses Peptid ist durch eine hohe (1300 IE/mg) und relativ selektive antidiuretische Wirksamkeit ausgezeichnet.     

The synthesis of azomycin (2-Nitroimidazole)

Riassunto La sintesi del 2-nitroimidazolo e del 1-metil-2-nitroimidazolo per diazotasione e reasione di Gattermann a partire dai corrispondenti 2-aminoimidasoli dimostra che, in determinate condizioni, questi ultimi si comportano come composti a carattere aromatico.     

Fertilität reduzierende Wirkung langdauernder Noradrenalinbehandlung

Summary Albino rats of both sexes were treated with epinephrine and norepinephrine for 3 months, while the control animals received the same quantity of physiological NaCl. At the end of this period, the rats were allowed to multiply freely in each group. The number of litters was recorded in each case. While epinephrine did not alter the litter-rate, norepinephrine decreased it significantly. The effect of neural stress on reproduction and its relation to the adrenomedullar hormones is discussed.     

Maternal effects on implantation and related phenomena in the rabbit

Zusammenfassung Intrauterine Embryonenüberfrachtung wurde experimentell durch Übertragung von Neuseeländer-Spenderkaninchen in Neuseeländer- und Chinchilla-Empfängerkaninchen, von Chinchilla-Spenderkaninchen in Neuseeländer-Empfängerkaninchen erreicht. Die Empfängertiere wurden 9 Tage nach Begattung zur Prüfung der Implantation und 29 Tage danach zur Beurteilung des fötalen Entwicklungszustandes eröffnet bzw. abgetötet. Chinchilla-Kaninchen zeigten erhöhte Implantationskapazität und verringertes fötales Überleben gegenüber den Neuseeländern.

The effect of various diuretic agents on renal electrolyte and urea concentration gradients in rats

Zusammenfassung Die Konzentrationsgradienten von Na+und Harnstoff im Rattennierengewebe werden durch intravenöse Applikation von Merallurid, Salyrgan und Hydrochlorothiazid nicht beeinflusst. Die Änderung des Na-Gradienten nach Aminophyllin hängt von der Injektionszeit ab. Acetazolamid-, Chlorothiazid- und Furosemid-Injektion führt jedoch zur Senkung oder zum Verschwinden eines Na-Gradienten. Die Kaliumkonzentration in der Rinde und Papilla wird durch Hg- und Sulfonamid-Diuretica erniedrigt.

Riassunto Lo studio delle risposte evocate nelle radiazioni acustiche e nelle arec acustiche primarie da stimolazione delle vie uditive centrali dimostra che: (a) la trasmissione degli impulsi ascendenti a livello del corpo genicolato mediale è facilitata sia durante il sonno profondo che al risveglio mentre, (b) l'eccitabilità corticale è maggiore durante il sonno leggero.

Summary Sedimentation and diffusion coefficients, partial specific volume, intrinsic viscosity, ATP-ase activity and molecular weight of cardiac myosin from calf hearts were determined. The values agree well with the results ofMueller et al.⁴ for cardiac myosin of the dog, and are not essentially different from values reported for skeletal myosins.¹

Summary LAP activity was determined in rat urine under normal conditions and following mast cell depletion by compound 48/80. A statistically significant increase in urinary LAP activity is found after administration of compound 48/80. This increase is due to mast cell depletion and the resulting anaphylactoid reaction.     

Renal function following complete ligation of the renal artery

Zusammenfassung Totale Unterbindung der Nieren arterie führt zu fast vollständigem Erlöschen der Funktion der betreffenden Niere. Wird etwa 81 bis 110 Tagnach der Unterbindung die andere Niere entfernt, se können Hunde ohne Symptome von Niereninsuffizieno überleben: die Entwicklung eines Kollateralkreislaufez stellt die Funktion der ischämisierten Niere wieder her. s     

Biological activities of pure prostaglandins

Prostaglandins, the hydroxy unsaturated C20 fatty acids, are found throughout the body and have an equally wide range of biological activities. Prostaglandins are known to: 1) stimulate uterine contraction; 2) inhibit spontaneous contraction of the rabbit uterus; 3) inhibit the respiratory smooth muscle of different animals; 4) lower systemic arterial blood pressure when injected intravenously; 5) stimulate contractions in isolateral segments of intestinal smooth muscle of most species investigated; 6) produce transient sedation when intravenously injected in cats, and 7) inhibit lipolysis induced by catechal amines, corticotrophin, glucagon and thyroid stimulating hormone. The inhibitory and excitatory effects of prostaglandins may each have a physiological importance at different sites. Current state of knowledge of the distribution, metabolism and actions of the prostaglandins is still fragmentary. The functional significance of the prostaglandins is yet to be determined.
