Summary Nine phenolic compounds can be found after decomposition of lignin. Their behaviour to paper-and thin-layer chromatography, colour-reactions, fluorescence in ultraviolet-light of different wave-lengths as well as ultraviolet-absorption-spectra have been examined. The Rf-values result from the quotient.     

Zur zellulären Aminosäure-Inkorporation im in- und exkretorischen Pankreas unter experimentellen Bedingungen

Summary After glucagon and tolbutamide administration, the protein synthesis in the nucleus increases, especially in the B- but to a lesser extent also in the A-cells. Similar effects are noted in the cytoplasma of B-cells. Already 2 h following alloxan premedication, there is no activity in the nucleus and cytoplasm of B-cells, whereas in the A-cells they are markedly labelled.     

An attachment for the measurement of the absorption spectra on paper chromatograms

Zusammenfassung Mit der Hilfe eines neuen Zusatzinstruments zum Beckman-Quarz-Spektrophotometer ist es möglich, die Absorptionsspektra isolierter Substanzen auf Papierchromatogrammen zu messen. Ferner erlaubt das Instrument die Bestimmung der Rf-Werte nach der Methode vonTennent und Mitarbeitern.     

The influence of chlorothiazide and tolbutamide upon intestinal serotonin levels in the sprague-dawley rat

Zusammenfassung Der Serotoningehalt der Schleimhaut im obern Duodenumteil, im mittleren Jejunum, im Ileumendteil und im Appendix von Sprague-Dawley Charles River Rattenmännchen wurde ohne Vorbehandlung und mit Chlorothiazid- und Tolbutamidvorbehandlung spektrophotofluorimetrisch bestimmt. Die Serotoningehalte für die 3 Gruppen vergleichbarer Gewebe waren ähnlich, was zeigt, dass die früher beschriebene Erhöhung des Serotoningehaltes der Schleimhaut nach Sulfamerazinvorbehandlung wahrscheinlich nicht mit einer unspezifischen Wirkung des Sulfonamidteils verbunden ist.

Chronic effects of nicotine on rat gastric secretion

Résumé Après avoir reÇu 300 g de tartrate de nicotinehydrogène pendant 15 jours il y eut des augmentations significatives dans le volume du suc gastrique et dans la production de pepsine. Des injections de nicotine on abaissé tous les paramètres, mais combinées avec de la gastrine synthétique (ICI-50123), elles n'ont aucun effet. Les résultats présentés peuvent expliquer pourquoi l'habitude de fumer est un facteur contribuant à la formation à la guérison des ulcères peptiques.     

Differential amine depletion from cardiac adrenergic nerves by Segontin

Zusammenfassung Selbst bei hohen Dosen von Segontin wird eine beachtliche Menge von Noradrenalin im Herz zurückgehalten. Fluoreszenzhistochemische Untersuchungen nach verschiedenen Dosen von Segontin machen wahrscheinlich, dass dieser Aminrest in den Gefässnerven enthalten ist, während der vollständige Schwund der Überträgersubstanz in den Muskelnerven beobachtet wird.

Summary Actinomycin D causes a marked increase of alkaline phosphatase activity in the zona subcorticalis of the developing rat kidney. The effect is more pronounced in female than in male animals. Acid phosphatase activity increases in males only.     

Changes in DNA and RNA during embryonic development of the merogonic combinationTriton palmatus (♀) ×Triton cristatus (♂)

Zusammenfassung Der Gehalt an RNS und DNS früher Entwicklungsstadien des BastardmerogonsTriton palmatus ()×Triton cristatus wurde gemessen. Es zeigt sich, dass trotz der Kern-Plasmadisharmonie diese letale Kombination in der Lage ist, beide Nukleinsäuren zu synthetisieren.

Clinical and biochemical analysis of gluten toxicity I

Zusammenfassung Eine saure Peptid-Fraktion wurde aus dem Weizenprotein Gliadin durch Behandlung mit Pepsin und Trypsin erhalten. Das Verdauungsprodukt wurde durch Präzipitation mit Aceton und Adsorptionschromatographie an saurem Al₂O₃ weiter aufgearbeitet.Die erhaltene saure Peptid-Franktion wurde mit Perameisensäure nach dem vonSanger entdeckten Verfahren behandelt. Es wurde festgestellt, dass der in idiopathischer Steatorrhoe toxische Faktor nach dieser Behandlung noch immer vorlag.
