Best tracking performance for integrator and dead time plant

The optimal tracking performance for integrator and dead time plant in the case where plant uncertainty and control energy constraints axe to be considered jointly is inrestigated.Firstly,an average cost function of the tracking error and the plant input energy over a class of stochastic model errors are defined.Then,we obtain an internal model controller design method that minimizes the average performance and further studies optimal tracking performance for integrator and dead time plant in the simultaneous presence of plant uncertainty and control energy constraint.The results can be used to evaluate optimal tracking performance and control energy in practical designs.     

Macroscopic Quantum Phenomena and Topological Phase Interference Effects in Single-Domain Magnets

The tunneling of macroscopic object is one of the most fascinating phenomena in condensed matter physics. During the last decade, the problem of quantum tunneling of magnetization in nanometer-scale magnets has attracted a great deal of theoretical and experimental interest. A review of recent theoretical research of the macroscopic quantum phenomena in nanometer-scale single-domain magnets is presented in this paper. It includes macroscopic quantum tunneling (MQT) and coherence (MQC) in single-domain magnetic particles, the topological phase interference or spin-parity effects, and tunneling of magnetization in an arbitrarily directed magnetic field. The general formulas are shown to evaluate the tunneling rate and the tunneling level splitting for single-domain AFM particles. A nontrivial generalization of Kramers degeneracy for double-well system is provided to coherently spin tunneling for spin systems with m-fold rotational symmetry. The effects induced by the external magnetic field have been studied, where the field is along the easy, medium, hard axis, or arbitrary direction.     

A differential game model for a developing and a developed country

A differential game (DG) model for a developing and a developed country is considered. Each player makes decisions about how much resource to be used to restrict the opponent's development so as to maximize his weighted sum of current consumption and final output. Current consumption is assumed to be preferred to final output for both players. The developing country is assumed to have a higher economic growth rate and a higher preference to final output, whereas the developed country is assumed to have a higher initial income and a higher efficiency in restricting his opponent. This problem is investigated under three kinds of information structures, i.e., a zerosum, a nonzero-sum, and a Stackelberg game. Open-loop equilibrium solutions are obtained for all the three cases. Economic implications of the result are provided.
