Riassunto Le radici bulbare e spinale del nervo accessorio non contengono fibre afferenti provenienti dal territorio polmonare e dall'area aortica. Queste entrano nel bulbo esclusivamente con la radice del nervo vago. Le cellule gangliari contenute nelle radici dell'accessorio sono probabilmente in relazione con il controllo propriocettivo dei muscoli striati innervati dai rami esterno (spinale) ed interno (bulbare) di questo nervo.

Riassunto Le fibre cardio-inibitrici della radice bulbare del nervo accessorio spinale presentano un piano di distribuzione periferica (rami cardiaci del vago-strutture intrinseche del cuore) non distinguibile da quello delle fibre della radice del vago, che rappresentano la componente numericamente predominante.

Riassunto Nel cane, le fibre cardioinibitrici esconno dal bulbo con le radicole bulbari dell'accessorio e con quelle più caudali del vago. Tali radicole non contengono fibre motrici per il tratto digerente, che sono contenute nella porzione craniale della radice vagale. Nel nucleo motore dorsale i neuroni cardioinibitori sono localizzati nell porzione mediale dei 2/4 intermedi, e sono distribuiti nello stesso ordine caudo-craniale delle radicole con le quali gli assoni escono dal bulbo.     

Effects of the spinal cord section and of subsequent denervation on the mechanical properties of fast and slow muscles.

The Soleus muscle of the rat, 3--6 months old, becomes significantly faster than in the controls, if the spinal cord is cut at birth. Mechanical properties of Extensor Digitorum Longus (EDL) muscle are not altered by spinal cord section. In cordotomized animals Soleus muscle always remains slower than EDL muscle. Denervation, performed 3--6 months after birth, has the same slowing effects in the Soleus and EDL muscles, both in cordotomized and in the control animals.

Résumé Après vasectomie complète, pratiquée sur des rats, la fluorescence des terminaisons nervcuses, ainsi que la substance transmettrice, disparaît le long du canal déférent et de l'extrémité de l'épididyme en deçà de la lésion. Chez les chats, les terminaisons nerveuses dans les canalicules efférents et la tête de l'épididyme ne disparaissent pas après l'opération. Dans la direction de la glande et du ganglion prostatique, la matière fluorescente s'accumule dans les troncs nerveux, et les terminaisons nerveuses restent visibles. Après castration, quelques modifications compensatrices ont été observées.     

Effects of dikegulac-sodium on negative geotropic response,endogenous tryptophan and IAA-oxidase activity inGlycine max roots

Summary Dikegulac-sodium inhibited primary and lateral root growth inGlycine max. The roots, curved and showed negative geotropic response after dikegulac-sodium treatment. The tryptophan level decreased and the activity of IAA-oxidase increased with increasing concentrations of dikegulac-sodium.Acknowledgments. We are grateful to Dr R. Diuretic activity of roots ofClitoria ternatea L. in dogs

Zusammenfassung ZermahleneClitoria ternatea-Wurzeln oder deren Extrakt in 95% Alkohol zeigten bei oraler Verabreichung in nicht-toxischer Dosis keine nennenswerte diuretische oder natriuretische Wirkung beim Hund. Intravenöse Gaben des Extraktes führten zu mässiger Steigerung der Ausscheidung von Natrium und Kalium im Harn, zeigten aber gleichzeitig auch Anzeichen von Nierenschädigung.     

Structural characteristics and distribution of satellite cells along crayfish muscle fibers.

The distribution of satellite cells (sc) in long-sarcomere muscle fibers from the carpopod extensor muscle of the crayfish (Astacus fluviatilis) has been studied electron-microscopically. The sc are spindle-shaped and are oriented parallel to the long axis of a fiber. The mean lengths of sc nuclei (17.00 microns) and that of myonuclei (18.35 microns) differ non-significantly. In older animals, the mean ratio of the number of sc nuclei to the total number of nuclei (sc nuclei + myonuclei) is 0.0716, 0.0848, and 0.034 for the tendon, central and shell segments, respectively. The corresponding values for younger animals are 0.158, 0.166, and 0.081. The mean numbers of sc nuclei per mm of a fiber are 94, 117, and 47 (older animals), and 164, 117, and 94 (younger animals) for the tendon, central and shell segments, respectively. The high incidence of sc per unit fiber length in crayfish may be related to the fact that crayfish muscle fibers have a much larger diameter than vertebrate muscle cells.

Résumé Certains neurones hypothalamiques présentent dans la demi-heure qui suit une stimulation vaginale des modifications de leur décharge spontanée indépendantes de l'état de vigilance de l'animal. Ces variations pourraient être en rapport avec les mécanismes nerveux de l'ovulation provoquée chez la Lapine.
