Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) are dioxin-like environmental contaminants. There is growing concern over the endocrine-disrupting effects of PCNs, but very few studies have investigated the effect of PCNs on the thyroid system. Geochemicalcharacteristics and applications of 18a (H)-neohopanes and 17a (H)-diahopanes

Distributions and geochemical significances of 18α(H)-neohopanes and of 17α(H)-diahopanes in oils from west Xialiaohe depression of the Bohai Bay Basin have been studied. Relative abundance of 18α(H)-neohopanes and of 17α(H)-diahopanes can be effectively used as maturity parameters, in a range of medium-high mature stage, based on consideration on sedimentary-organic facies of source rocks. With a dual geochemical significance of maturity and sedimentary-organic facies, neohopane and diahopane parameters can be well used in oil-source correlation and in petroleum population division. Formation, primary concentration and preservation of precursors of rearranged hopanes are closely related to depositional conditions such as Eh-pH and clays content. A series of probable diahopanes (series D) was detected in the oils, which exhibits a similar distribution pattern and geochemical behavior as that of 17α(H)-diahopanes (series B).     

Cloning,sequencing and structural analysis of a pea cDNA encoding EF-1α

A cDNA library with the capacity of 2.0 × 10⁶ was constructed using mRNA extracted, from gibberellic acid (GA)-treated G2 pea seedlings and a 1.6 kb cDNA with 100 nucleotides of 5′ non-coding region and 223 nucleotides of 3′ non-coding region was obtained by random screening. The DNA fragment contains an open reading frame of 1 344 nucleotides and encodes 447 amino acids. Sequence analysis of DNA and deduced polypeptide demonstrated that it encoded for a pea elongation factor 1-alpha (EF-1α). The functional domains of EF-1α is well conserved and EF-1α can be a good candidate for studying molecular evolution.     

The HITCR-I： Evaluation on a free gait generation method for the hexapod robot on irregular terrain

The purpose of this paper is to present and evaluate a method of free gait generation for HITCRI,a hexapod walking robot.The HITCR-I is designed as a modularized structure of legs that is based upon a four-bar linkage mechanism and with force sensors in the tip of legs,distributed hardware structure and a modular software structure of the control system.Based on a set of local rules between adjacent legs,finite state machine （FSM） model is built to control the coordination of legs.An automatic smooth transition of gait pattern is achieved through deriving the mathematical relation between gait pattern and locomotion parameters.The disordered inter-leg phase sequence is adjusted to a regular state smoothly and quickly by the local rules based FSM,and the gait pattern can transform automatically adapting to irregular terrain.The experiment on HITCR-I has demonstrated that it can walk through irregular terrain reliably and expeditiously with the free gait controller designed in this paper.

First of all, we introduces the concept of m-irreducible of Markov chain in random environment. Then under the condition of m-irreducible, the relationship of recurrent and positive recurrent between two states is studied. We also give several conditions that can imply a state is recurrent and positive recurrent. And then the period of a state is discussed and we obtained that under the condition of m-irreducible, for any two states in x, they have the same period.

The Center and the Fine Focus for a Class of Quartic Polynomial Poincare Equations

We study a class of quartic polynomial Poincare equations by applying a recurrence formula of focal value. We give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the origin to be a center, and prove that the order of fine focus at the origin for this class of equations is at most 6.

Structure of a nanobody-stabilized active state of the β(2) adrenoceptor

G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) exhibit a spectrum of functional behaviours in response to natural and synthetic ligands. Recent crystal structures provide insights into inactive states of several GPCRs. Efforts to obtain an agonist-bound active-state GPCR structure have proven difficult due to the inherent instability of this state in the absence of a G protein. We generated a camelid antibody fragment (nanobody) to the human β(2) adrenergic receptor (β(2)AR) that exhibits G protein-like behaviour, and obtained an agonist-bound, active-state crystal structure of the receptor-nanobody complex. Comparison with the inactive β(2)AR structure reveals subtle changes in the binding pocket; however, these small changes are associated with an 11?? outward movement of the cytoplasmic end of transmembrane segment 6, and rearrangements of transmembrane segments 5 and 7 that are remarkably similar to those observed in opsin, an active form of rhodopsin. This structure provides insights into the process of agonist binding and activation.

In this paper, the holomorphic sectional curvature under invariant metric on a Cartan-Hartogs domain of the second type YII(N,p,K) is presented and an invariant K?]lher metric which is complete and not less than the Bergman metric is constructed, such that its holomorphic sectional curvature is bounded above by a negative constant. Hence a comparison theorem for the Bergman and Kobayashi metrics on YII(N,p,K) is obtained.
