Summary The reaction between benzoquinone and two or more mols ethylenimine yields a white insoluble compound which is the internal salt of 2,5-bis-ethylenimino-hydroquinone, an unusual formation not yet described in the literature. C-Methyl-ethylenimine forms a similar hydroquinone salt, whilst other cyclic or non cyclic amines, such as piperidine, pyrrolidine, trimethylenimine, dimethylamine and C,C-dimethyl-ethylenimine give 2,5-disubstituted benzoquinones. According to the findings ofLoustalot, Schär andMeier 2,5-Bisethylenimino-hydroquinone has proved to be of remarkable efficacy in seven kinds of transplantable tumors. It would seem, therefore, that this compound has, both chemically and biologically, interesting qualities. 相似文献

Summary The fatty acids of two samples of chloroplasts fromSpinacia oleracea have been investigated quantitatively. They contain many polyenoic fatty acids (more than 70% of the total fatty acids); amongst these, a relatively high content of C16-trienoic acid is remarkable. Summary The method used previously for determination of the structure of native poly-d-glutamic acid was extended in modified form (paper chromatography) to thep-aminobenzoyl polypeptide of yeast. It was found that this polypeptide is built up of-glutamyl bonds. 相似文献

Summary UV.-irradiation of a 5-hydroxytryptophan solution results in formation of 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) the yield being higher than that of histamine in a histidine solution under similar conditions. Summary Experiments withColeus Blumei andTropaeolum showed that triazine compounds inhibit the photosynthesis, and, consequently, prevent the accumulation of starch. The chloroplasts of starchfree coleus leaves kept on a solution containing sugars and simazine are able to form starch again.

Summary Further investigation on triazine-compounds led us to considerably more phytotoxic compounds than 2-chloro-4, 6-bis-(diethyl-amino)-s-triazine (G 25804), three of which were field-tested. 2-chloro-4, 6-bis-(ethyl-amino)-s-triazine (G 27692) showed a particularly good herbicidal activity and a considerable tolerance versus corn and cotton. From these preliminary tests G 27692 seems to be a promising overall toxic as well as a selective pre-and post-emergence herbicide for corn and cotton.

Summary Simazin inhibits the Hill reaction, i.e. the use of light energy for the synthesis of energy-rich compounds. Isolated maize (corn) and spinach chloroplasts are, when analyzed in the Hill reaction, equally sensitive to the inhibitory action of Simazin. Furthermore, it does not influence the activity of catalase, nor does it inhibit respiration.Competitive inhibition of DPN is not seen in the presence of Simazin. On the other hand, this compound appears to interfere directly with the intermediate steps needing chlorophyll. 相似文献

Summary A new group of organic compounds was tested with several laboratory methods, in the green-house and against different fungus diseases in the field. According to these tests the described sulfonamide derivatives show a fungicidal activity comparable to compounds which are actually used. So far Mesulfane seems to be the most promising compound.
