Rat brain myelin acid mucopolysaccharides (AMPS) incorporate 15%, 8%, 5.5% and 4% of total associated 35S-sulphate, 14, 21, 30 and 75 days after birth, respectively. The course of 35S-sulphate incorporation into total rat brain mucopolysaccharides, as well in those from myelin, had a similar feature with peak on the 2nd week and a significant decrease on the 3rd and 4th week postnatally.  相似文献

Summary Angiotensin I converting enzyme in pulmonary tissue of fetal and newborn rabbits was measured using Hip-His-Leu as substrate. Enzyme activity was detected in the late fetal period, increased gradually until birth and increased markedly after birth. Enzyme activity reached adult levels on the 2nd and 3rd day after birth. This observations suggests that the metabolic activity of the lung for angiotensin develops suddenly at the time of derivery.This work was supported in part by grant No. 187032 from Ministry of Education.  相似文献

The neurobehavioral evolution of the normally growing rat has been investigated by means of a series of reflex, motor and sensory tests from birth up to weaning. A sequential development of behavioral responses has been assessed over this 21-days period, and 2nd week following birth representing an important step in the neurobehavioral maturation of the rat. This rat model may be considered as an useful reference to evaluate changes that may be induced by pharmacological and toxicological agents in the developing exposed rat.  相似文献

Acitivity of membrane bound (Ca2+ + Mg2+)-stimulated ATPase, associated with Ca2+ outward transport, in calf red cells is high at birth and declines with a rate constant of 0.041 d-1 after the 3rd week. The decline parallels the disappearance of fetal hemoglobin.  相似文献

Summary Fenestrated capillaries in venous patch adventitia are seen during the 2nd week after microsurgery. The fenestrae contain diaphragms. These capillaries are possibly transitory structures which appear during injury cicatrization. In both brain and liver, 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase activity increased gradually after birth and reached a plateau at 5 weeks of age. The fluorescent granular perithelial cells (F.G.P.) of rats aged 1 week to 2 years were observed under a light microscope to investigate intracellular granules and localization. This study showed that a marked proliferation of F.G.P. occurs within 3 weeks after birth and the total number remains constant for 2 years. The F.G.P. are mainly distributed in the gray matter, and are scarce in the white matter. The number and distribution of F.G.P. seems to reflect a difference of vascularization and function in different cerebral regions.  相似文献

The specific activity of glutamine synthetase (GS) in mouse brain was 2-fold higher in the olfactory bulbs than in other regions. After birth, the specific activity of GS increased more rapidly in medulla oblongata and in olfactory bulbs, than in cerebral and cerebellar cortex. The activity of GS in primary cultures of brain hemispheres increased more slowly than in homogenates of whole brains. However, when astroblasts were treated in vitro with glucocorticoids or mouse brain extracts, GS activity reached 4 times the level measured in the homogenate of an adult mouse brain. We conclude that levels of GS activity may relate to the maturation of astrocytes, and propose that GS may be used as a marker of astrocytic maturation.  相似文献

In contrast to the laboratory Rat, the Rat (Rattus rattus) of Guadeloupe is a favorable host for the life cycle of S. mansoni: the parasite population is maintained at a high level (between 8 and 16% in this host until the 16th week and reproduces normally). Summary Administration of anti-EGF serum to newborn mice led to delay of eyelid opening and incisor tooth eruption, acceleration of hair growth and delay of weight gain. These results indicate that in the first week after birth EGF still has a physiological function, which can be abrogated by anti-EGF serum.  相似文献

Summary In the 2nd week after surgery, well differentiated smooth muscle cells (SMC) were evident in the walls of venous patches in rat common carotid artery. Summary The activity of enzyme monoamine oxidase was studied from 3 days before birth up to 2 days after birth in the heart, liver and kidney of albino rabbits. At the end of ftal life, the MAO activity of heart and liver expressed per unit of organ weight was nearly the same as the adult one. At birth and 1 day, the activity showed decrease in the 3 organs. The possible causes of these decreases are discussed.

Summary In rats, placental gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGTP) specific activity declined linearly during the last third of gestation. In contrast, the kidney enzyme activity progressively increased 15-fold. In the gut, peak activity was reached at mid-lactation (age 12 days). Hepatic GGTP levels were maximal during the foetal stage. Summary The relationship between the activity of protein kinase C (PKC) and muscle innervation was explored in the rat sternomastoid muscle (SM) from day 18 of gestation (E18) to adult age. Between E18 and birth, PKC activity rose 5-fold, and during the day after birth, diminished to a level characteristic of the mature muscle. The rise chiefly occurred in the neural part of the muscle, in both the membrane and the cytosol fractions. Between E18 and day 5 after birth, the ratios of membrane to cytosol PKC activity rose from 0.5 to 10 and 3 respectively in the neural and aneural parts of the muscle. Denervation of adult SM reduced PKC activity by half in the membrane fraction of the neural part but did not significantly change it in the membrane or cytosol fractions of the aneural parts. These results suggest that innervation plays an important part in determining the level of PKC activity in muscle.  相似文献
