Zusammenfassung Intermittierendes Hungern führt bei Albinoratten zu einer 2–3fachen Erhöhung derin vitro Oxydation von Palmitat-1-C¹⁴ bei Leberschnitten. Dies im Vergleich zuad libitum gefütterten oder kontinuierlich unterernährten Tieren.     

Effect of glucagon on ethanol oxidation in isolated rat liver cells

Summary Addition of glucagon 5 min after ethanol was found to stimulate the rate of ethanol oxidation in hepatocytes isolated from starved rats. This stimulation is of the same order of magnitude as that mediated by asparagine. The glucagon effect is suppressed by antiproteolytic agents such as insulin or NH₄Cl. Cholesterol synthesis and related enzymes in rat liver during pregnancy

Summary During pregnancy the synthesis of cholesterol and the activity of 3-hydroxy 3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase fell markedly before parturition; HMGCoA synthase activity was low during pregnancy and fell again immediately before delivery while acetoacetyl-CoA-thiolase was always low and constant.     

Incorporation of14C-leucine into serum transferrin by slices and cell-free preparations of rat liver

Zusammenfassung Der Einbau von¹⁴C-Leucin in Serumtransferrin in vitro in Leberschnitten und in isolierte Lebermikrosomen der Ratte wurde gezeigt und mit demjenigen in Serumalbumin verglichen. Die gereinigten Proteine wurden immunoelektrophoretisch ausgefällt und ihre Radioaktivität bestimmt. Ebenso wurde die Reindarstellung von Transferrin aus Rattenserum beschrieben.     

The oxidation of cystamine and other sulfur-diamines by diamine-oxidase preparations

Riassunto Le diamine solforate cistamina e lantionamina sono ossidate con velocità comparabile a quella della cadaverina dalla diamino-ossidasi. Il solfone della lantionamina è ossidato più lentamente ed il disolfossido della cistamina non è ossidato affatto. Benchè dall'ossidazione della cistamina si produca una mole di ammoniaca per mole di substrato, il consumo di ossigeno è due volte più elevato del teorico, indicante una ulteriore ossidazione del prodotto metabolico della reazione. Tuttavia taurina, ipotaurina e solfati, non sono determinabili nel deproteinizzato finale.     

Effect of centrally active drugs on dopamine oxidation by rat brain catecholamine oxidase

Effect of silica on protein biosynthesis by rat liver cell-free systems

Riassunto È stata studiata l'azione di particelle di silice a struttura cristallina e non cristallina sulla incorporazione di leucina-1-C¹⁴ nelle proteine microsomiali di fegato.La silice inibisce l'incorporazione, ma con diversa intensità. Ciò appare essere in rapporto con la struttura delle particelle impiegate.     

Effect of acetone on VLDL secretion by the isolated rat liver

Summary High acetone levels occur in uncontrolled diabetes and after isopropanol administration to rats. In both conditions, very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) secretion is depressed. Acetone, however, failed to affect the VLDL secretion rate by the isolated perfused rat liver, suggesting that this metabolite is not involved in impaired VLDL production in diabetes and after isopropanol administration.

Résumé L'addition de spermine au microsomes du foie de rats femelles modifie leK _m du système enzymatique qui transforme 1'estradiol en 2-hydroxyestradiol et aussi en des produits aqueux. La nouvelle valeur resemble à celle qu'ont trouve avec des rats mâles, mais leV _max de la réaction reste inchangé. L'action de la spermine dans ce système est discutée.     

Effect of age on the activity of rat testicular arginine-aminopeptidase

Effects of age on arginine-aminopeptidase activity were investigated in the rat testis. A marked rise of the enzyme activity in 6-week-old rats corresponded to the appearance of spermatids in the later stages of their development.
