Riassunto Experimenti condotti sul sangue intero di individui neonati e adulti hanno dimostrato che l'affinità del sangue per l'ossigeno (P 50) dipende dalla concentrazione intraeritrocitaria di 2,3-difosfoglicerato (DPG) e dalle proporzioni relative di emoglobina adulta (HbA) e fetale (HbF). Accumulation of cadmium in organs of guinea pigs after subchronic oral cadmium treatment (1 mg Cd/animal/24 h) was in the following order: kidneys > liver > heart > testes > brain. The preventive effects of high doses of ascorbic acid (AA) against cadmium deposition were more pronounced in the testes, heart and brain, and in the kidney only after short-term cadmium treatment. Zusammenfassung Die Reaktion des Karzinogens N-acetoxy-2-acetamidofluoren mit Guanosin wird durch Ascorbinsäure, jedoch nicht durch Zitronensäure gehemmt. Summary Rats were orally administered 1-ascorbic acid, nicotine, 1-ascorbic acid and nicotine, or distilled water for 10 days. Following this treatment they were fasted for 24 h and then restrained in a cold environment for 2h. Nicotine alone produced significantly more gastric ulcers than any other treatment. 1-Ascorbic acid increased ulceration relative to controls. The combined effects of 1-ascorbic acid and nicotine resulted in reduced ulcer incidence and severity. It appears that 1-ascorbic acid and nicotine do not act synergistically to augment stress-induced gastric ulcer.
