Potentiation of cutaneous inhibition by alcohol

Résumé Les effets de l'alcool éthylique sur l'inhibition présynaptique dans le Noyau de Burdach furent étudiés. Il apparut que ce produit intensifie l'accroissement en excitabilité des extrémités afférentes cunéaires et l'inhibition de la réaction lemnisque, ceci en conditionnant les décharges cutanées. L'alcool augmente aussi l'intensité de l'onde de surface positive. En conclusion, l'alcool intensifie l'inhibition présynaptique du stimulus cutané au niveau du Noyau de Burdach.     

Nerve-growth promoting action of isaxonine in rat

Summary After sciatic nerve lesion by freezing, the length of the most rapidly regenerating fibres was significantly increased by i.p. injection of isaxonine (N-isopropyl-amino-2-pyrimidine orthophosphate) in the rat. A dose-effect relationship was demonstrated. Both sensory and motor function returned earlier in treated animals.     

Enhancement by pyridoxine of the action of diazepam on spinal presynaptic inhibition

Summary In spinal unanesthetized cats, pyridoxine pretreatment significantly enhanced the diazepam-induced increase in dorsal root potentials and dorsal root reflexes.Acknowledgments. Inhibitory action of estradiol on testosterone production in rat embryo]

Embryos from Rats given an injection of 0,5-1 mg of oestradiol benzoate on days 17--19 of pregnancy show a 3--4-fold reduction in their testicular testosterone content with respect to the control embryos, 24--48 hrs later. OEstradiol most likely acts by inhibiting LH secretion, which in turn results in a lowered testosterone production.     

Generalized inhibition of spinal reflexes induced by cutaneous nerve stimulation in unrestrained cats

Riassunto Nell'animale integro non anestetizzato la stimolazione a bassa frequenza delle fibre cutanee del gruppo II produce una riduzione generalizzata del tono posturale e dei riflessi spinali mono- e polisinaptici, che si accompagna di solito, ma non necessariamente, ad un quadro di sincronizzazione elettroencefalografica. In particolari condizioni sperimentali la stimolazione cutanea suddetta può anche precipitare il quadro di sonno desincronizzato.

Riassunto Durante i movimenti rapidi oculari caratteristici della fase desincronizzata di sonno si osserva una depressione fasica della risposta lemniscale alla stimolazione di fibre cutanée. Questa modulazione ipnica della risposta lemniscale è dovuta a meccanismi di inibizione presinaptica e postsinaptica.     

5-Thio-d-glucose:o-diphenoloxidase inhibition as its mechanism of action

Summary 5-Thio-d-glucose completely inhibitedo-diphenoloxidase from animal as well as plant sources. It has been reported that thioglucose suppresses spermatogenesis in mice and also insect metamorphosis, probably through inhibition of glucose transport. Inhibition ofo-diphenoloxidase (which is active in spermatozoa and insect larvae) is suggested as an alternative mechanism of action of thioglucose.     

MAO inhibition,an unlikely mode of action for chlordimeform

Summary Inhibition constants of several formamidines, their corresponding formanilides and other representatives of compounds derived from aniline, such as phenylureas, N-phenyl-carbamates and acylanilides, were determined for rat liver monoamine oxidase. The reversability of the inhibition and the lack of correlation between inhibition potencies and toxicities of the compounds tested add to the opinion that MAO inhibition is not a prominent factor in chlordimeform poisoning.     

Effect of chloroform on the regenerating renal tubular epithelium in mouse

Résumé Chez la souris, après l'injection de la première dose de chloroforme, la seconde dose entraîne la nécrose segmentaire de l'épithélium tubulaire rénal, depuis le huitième jour de sa régénération. Après la seconde dose, la nécrose tubulaire a une moins grande extension.     

Increased vascular permeability in the primary cutaneous allograft response in the rat

Résumé La réaction cutanée de l'immunité de transplantation contre une greffe allogénique est accompagnée d'une forte mais courte augmentation de la perméabilité vasculaire. La réponse vasculaire apparait rapidement et cela avant les effets macroscopique ou histologiques de l'immunité de transplantation.
