Riassunto Mediante gel-cromatografia si è confermata la presenza di -glucosidasi e l'assenza di -amilasi nel siero di cavallo. La -amilasi è anche assente nelle ghiandole salivari ma presente nel pancreas dello stesso animale.     

Biochemical and immunological comparison of phenotypes of horse serum tranferrins

Résumé Différents phénotypes homozygotes des transferrines du sérum équin ont été comparés par analyses de leurs caractéristiques biochimiques et immunologiques. Les compositions en acides aminés des différents phénotypes sont très voisines; les différences immunologiques déterminées par la micro-fixation du complément sont plus prononcées.     

Periimplantation-like growth and development of mouse blastocysts in medium containing horse serum

Horse serum (HS) supported growth and differentiation of blastocysts as well as or better than fetal bovine serum (FBS) (p less than 0.01) as measured by a) the onset of trophoblastic outgrowth, b) the size of the resultant outgrowths, c) the size of nuclei in trophoblasts after their outgrowth and d) the size of the inner cell mass in outgrowths. Moreover, polyamines were found to be approximately 10-100 times less toxic to embryos when added to medium containing HS than when the medium contained FBS.     

Preparation of phenotypes of horse serum transferrins by gel filtration and ion-exchange chromatography

Résumé Les bandes des différents phénotypes de transferrines (Tf), identifiées par amido-électrophorèse, ont été purifiées par filtration sur gel et chromatographie échangeuse d'ions. Des anticorps de lapin ont été préparés contre plusieurs de ces phénotypes.     

Inhibitory effectin vitro of some polysaccharides and of horse serum albumin on mitochondrial swelling

Riassunto Si è studiato l'eventuale effetto protettivo, esercitato da alcuni polisaccaridi: il glicogeno di fegato, la pectina di mele, la gomma arabica, e dell'albumina del siero di cavallo su mitocondri di fegato di ratto sospesi in soluzione isotonica di saccarosio. Si è osservato come le suddette sostanze esercitino un effetto inibitore sopra il rigonfiamento spontaneo mitocondriale.     

Hydrolysis of histones by horse urinary kallikreins

Summary Horse urinary kallikrein was shown to hydrolyze histones from calf thymus and chicken nuclei erythrocytes. The hydrolysis is inhibited by benzamidine and hyposulfite but not by soy-bean trypsin inhibitor; horse plasma kallikrein also produces this hydrolysis.Work supported by grants from Projeto BIOQ/FAPESP (São Paulo), FINEP (Rio) and CNPq (Rio).Fellow from CNPq, from Instituto Biológico (São Paulo).     

Peroxidative activity of hemepeptides from horse heart cytochromec

Résumé L'hémoundécapeptide (HUP) a été préparé par digestion pepsique du cytochromec qui a été extrait et purifié à partir du cur de cheval. L'hémooctapeptide (HOP) a été obtenu par digestion trypsique de l'HUP. L'un et l'autre ont donné des produits homogènes par chromatographie sur colonne et sur papier, par électrophorèse sur papier à différents pH et par analyse des acides aminés. On a effectué une analyse spectrométrique de HUP et HOP et déterminé leur activité peroxydasique dans diverses conditions. Ces 2 composés n'ont pas montré d'activité catalasique.

Partial purification of a plasma-kinin-forming enzyme from horse urine

Zusammenfassung Durch Chromatographie mit Diäthylamino-äthyl-cellulose nach Ammoniumsulfat-Fraktionierung wurde ein Plasma-Kinin-freisetzendes Ferment aus Pferdeharn teilweise (80×) gereinigt. Das so gereinigte Präparat war gegen Pferde-, Menschen-, Rinder (Fraktion IV-4)- und Ratten-Blutplasma, nicht aber gegen Schweine-(Fraktion IV-4)-Globuline wirksam. Durch Sojabohnen-Trypsininhibitor oder Ovomucoid erfolgt keine Hemmung. Präparate von verschiedenem Reinheitsgrad zeigten entsprechendep-Toluenesulfonyl-l-arginin-methylester-spaltende und Kinin-freisetzende Wirksamkeit.
