Summary The biotransformation of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins in vitro is specifically augmented by endogenous pyrogen to a degree depending on the concentration applied, providing that the microsomal fraction of the cerebral cortex is used as prostaglandin-synthetase system. This effect is inhibited by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. These findings are compatible with the hypothesis that prostaglandins might act as mediators of the febrile reaction induced by endogenous pyrogen.  相似文献

Phenobarbital administration to the Cat an animal hypersensitive to the actions of many toxic substances or to physiological compounds such as hormones, does not produce cytochrome P 450 induction. Intraventricular injection of 250 microgram of 5 HTP induces both slow wave and paradoxical sleep, after 20-60 min. latencies, in insomniac Cats pretreated with P-chlorophenylalanine. Direct injections of 5 HTP in several brain stem structures do not induce sleep. The long latency or paradoxical sleep induction and its suppression with chloramphenicol suggest that indolamines are not directly responsible for paradoxical sleep, but that they act by controlling the synthesis and/or the liberation in the periventricular system of some specific paradoxical sleep inducing factor.  相似文献

Progesterone reinitiates in vitro meiosis in Xenopus laevis oocytes. This action of the hormone can be abolished by the exotoxin of vibrio cholerae. The concentration of toxin which inhibits 50% of the progesterone (10 muM) action in about 2.5 pM. Binding experiments using 125I labelled toxin demonstrated the existence of high affinity binding sites (KD approximately 0.2 nM) located probably on the surface of the oocytes.  相似文献

Riassunto Nell'animale integro non anestetizzato la stimolazione a bassa frequenza delle fibre cutanee del gruppo II produce una riduzione generalizzata del tono posturale e dei riflessi spinali mono- e polisinaptici, che si accompagna di solito, ma non necessariamente, ad un quadro di sincronizzazione elettroencefalografica. In particolari condizioni sperimentali la stimolazione cutanea suddetta può anche precipitare il quadro di sonno desincronizzato.
