The effect of NaCL on the peristalsis of the isolated guinea-pig ileum

Résumé On a étudié l'action de NaCl sur le péristaltisme. Après une heure, dans une solution de Tyrode saturée de NaCl (205–308 mM/1), un blocus neuromusculaire est apparu. Pendant cette inhibition du péristaltisme, la libération de l'acétylcholine a diminué de presque 50% et l'effet de cette substance a été annulé.     

Adaptation of the guinea-pig to histamine. sensitivity of the guinea-pig's ileum to histamine and acetylcholine

Résumé L'adaptation des cobayes à l'histamine par voie intrapéritonéale diminue la sensibilité de leur jéjunum isolé à l'histamine. En même temps le jéjunum isolé de cobayes adaptés réagit à l'acétylcholine sans changer remarquablement de susceptibilité. L'activité de l'histaminase dans le jéjunum adapté ne démontre pas la différence en relation avec celle du jéjunum non adapté.

Inhibitory effect of methionine- and leucine-enkephalin on contractions of the guinea-pig ileum elicited by PGE1

Summary Methionine-enkephalin and leucine-enkephalin (m-enk and l-enk) have been shown to antagonize contractions of the isolated guinea-pig intestine elicited by PGE₁. The inhibitory effect of these 2 pentapeptides is abolished by naloxone.     

The in vitro effect of adrenergic agents and related compounds on triglyceride levels of guinea-pig lymphoid cells.

Isoproterenol, epinephrine and norepinephrine were highly potent in decreasing the triglyceride levels of the splenic lymphoid cells from guinea-pigs in vitro, while they were quite inert upon the inguinal lymph node cells.     

Effects of lithium chloride on peripheral acetylcholine release and brain acetylcholine levels in the guinea-pig.

Lithium chloride administered acutely or chronically to guinea-pigs had no effect on brain level of acetylcholine or on peripheral release of acetylcholine from longitudinal muscle of the ileum. The results suggest differences between in vitro and in vivo action of lithium.

Résumé Des disperisions aqueuses de progestogènes et estrogènes stimulent l'agrégation des plaquettes de cobaye produites par ADP in vitro. Le diéthylstilbestérol et l'hexestrol qui ne sont pas des stéroïdes, mais possèdent une activité estrogénique, ont un effet inhibitoire sur l'agrégation.     

Effects of alpha- and beta-adrenergic blockers on the actions of noradrenaline on body temperature in the newborn guinea-pig.

The effect of NA injected into the lateral cerebral ventricle on Tc was blocked by alpha-adrenergic receptor blockers, but not by beta-receptor blockers, whereas the effect of systemically administered NA was blocked by i.p. administered beta-receptor blockers, but not by alpha-blockers.

Zusammenfassung Ser⁴-Ile⁸-oxytocin wurde synthetisiert und in einer Anzahl pharmakologischer Teste geprüft. Dieses synthetische Peptid zeigt relativ hohe oxytocinartige und sehr geringe vasopressinartige Aktivitäten. Die Befunde sind vereinbar mit der Annahme, dass Ser⁴-Ile⁸-oxytocin das oxytocinähnliche Hormon der Hypophyse von Knochenfischen sein könnte.

Iproniazid interaction with the H3 norepinephrine uptake and retention,on isolated left atrium of guinea-pig

Resumen La incorporación de H³NE a la auricula aislada de cobayo reserpinizado, tratado con Iproniazida (IPN) y atmosfera de Nitrogeno, es superior a la de sus controles sin IPN. En auriculas no reserpinizadas, la IPN aparece como agente bloquenate de la incorporación. Se sugiere que este bloqueo ocurre a nivel de las vesiculas especificas de almacenamiento presentes en las terminaciones nerviosas adrenergicas.     

Effects of adrenergic and cholinergic agonists on adenylate and guanylate cyclase activity of isolated guinea-pig seminal vesicle epithelium.

Isolated seminal vesicle epithelium of the guinea-pig contained increased amounts of cAMP and cGMP after treatment with PGE1 and carbachol, respectively. Adrenergic agents had no influence. Possible physiological implications of these results are discussed.     

Effect of different bathing media on the short-circuit current across the intestine of the rat and guinea-pig.

The changes in short-circuit current occurring when one or both solutions bathing the intestine of rat or guinea-pig mounted in flux chambers were recorded. The results with the guinea-pig can be explained in terms of diffusion potentials arising from the ionic replacements, and an electrogenic sodium pump, sensitive to ouabain, in the contraluminal membrane of the cell. In the rat, the situation is more complicated, and the enterocyte probably possesses an electrogenic sodium pump in the brush-border membrane.
