Microperoxisomes in steroidogenic cells of the rat ovary: Interstitial,thecal and luteal cells

Summary Microperoxisomes are present in luteal, interstitial and thecal cells. They are in close relation with smooth endoplasmic reticulum and lipids. Their probable role in steroid biosynthesis is discussed.This work was supported by funds from CNR (Contract N.CT-77.01921.4).

Monolayer cultures of normal adult rat adrenocortical cells: steroidogenic responses to nucleotides, bacterial toxins and antimicrotubular agents.

Monolayer cultures of normal rat adrenocortical cells were treated with agents which stimulate steroidogenesis by Y-1 adrenal tumour cells. Choleragen was active, whereas cyclic nucleotides other than cyclic AMP, bacterial endotoxins and antimicrotubular agents were inactive.

A histochemical study of δ5-3Β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase activity in the interstitial cells of the mammalian ovary

Riassunto Le cellule interstiziali dell'ovaio presentano spiccata attività enzimatica (3-OHD) ed organizzazione submicroscopica tipicamente stereidogenica nella donna nel periodo fetale e nel ciclo mestruale; nel ratto e nella cavia nel ciclo estrale e nella gravidanza. Negli stessi mammiferi tale attività è équivalente e coordinata a quella della teca interna e del corpo luteo.     

Regional hematocrit ratio and interstitial fluid volume in the normal rat

Résumé La détermination, dans les tissus, du volume globulaire et plasmatique, ainsi que de l'hématocrite, doit être pratiquée après un temps de mélange approprié et en évitant les erreurs dues à la variation locale de la concentration d'indicateur. Les valeurs normales sont fort différentes pour les divers organes étudiés et ne peuvent pas être calculés à partir des résultats obtenus par la mesure de l'hématocrite ou des volumes plasmatiques et globulaires corporels dans le sang artériel.     

Crystals of reinke in the nuclei of human testicular interstitial cells

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass in den Leydig'schen Zwischenzellen die Reink'schen Kristalle auch im Zellkern vorkommen und darauf hingewiesen, dass eine Modifikation des Zellkernstoffwechsels zu diesen Bildungen führen könnte.

The peroxisomes of Triturus cristatus (amphibian, urodele) adrenal cortex cells: peroxisome number as a function of steroidogenic activity]

Peroxisomes are scarce in the poorly active interrenal cells of hypophysectomized animals; their number increases drastically in cells which are stimulated by corticotrophic factors. A precise correlation appears thus to exist between the steroidogenic activity of the interrenal cells and the number of peroxisomes in these cells.     

Effect of continuous illumination on secretion of pregnane compounds by the rat ovary

Differences in the secretion of pregnane compounds from rats with follicular polycystic ovaries under constant light and with normal preovulatory ovaries under light-dark conditions were compared. The injection of LH greatly increased the secretion of progesterone. 5 alpha-pregnane-3,20-dione and 3 alpha-hydroxy-5 alpha-pregnan-20-one, in both types of ovaries, but the response of the two progesterone metabolites in the polycystic ovaries was low, suggesting low 5 alpha-reductase activity.
