Axillary 5 alpha-androst-16-en-3-one (5 alpha-androstenone) levels were found to be significantly higher in men than in women but do not vary between left and right axillae, are not related to age, handedness or degree of hirsutism (in women) nor to anosmia to this steroid. In men (but not in women), levels are related linearly to axillary cholesterol concentrations but not to squalene. Olfactory thresholds for 5 alpha-androstenone varied widely, the lowest recorded being 0.2 ppb, but there was no difference in thresholds between men and women. Women (70%) found the smell 'repellant' but anosmia did not differ greatly between men and women (9-20%). Anosmia to the smell of 5 alpha-androst-16-en-3 alpha-ol was most marked in women (90%) rather than in men (45%). Axillary 5 alpha-androstenone values were generally consistent with the 'musky' or 'strong' smells of male axillary extracts, compared with the 'sweet' smell of those from female subjects.  相似文献

Summary Synthetic 3-methylcyclohex-3-en-1-one, or 3,3-MCH, decreased by 77% the flight aggregation ofDendroctonus pseudotsugae (Scolytidae) to sticky traps containing attractant (frontalin, -pinene, and resin). However, windthrown trees were protected by 3,3-MCH much less than is known to occur with the isomer 3,2-MCH.This research was supported in part by NSF grants BMS 72-02522 and DEB 77-11361 and the O.S.U. Summary Orotic acid included in the diet of cardiomyopathic hamsters during the myolytic phase of the disease (30–60 days of age) prevented the reduction in cardiac sarcolemmal sialic acid, calcium binding, sialyltransferase activity and contractile activity associated with the cardiomyopathy.This work was supported by research grants from the MRC of Canada, the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada and the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation. Zusammenfassung Oxydation von steroidalen 4-3-Ketonen mit Wasserstoffsuperoxid in Anwesenheit von Selendioxid führt zu Verbindungen der allgemeinen Struktur II. Diese Methode erscheint besonders geeignet für eine oxydative Eliminierung des -Kohlenstoffatoms in konjugierten Ketonen, sowie für die Synthese von Norsecosäurelactonen II. Ausgehend von 17-Ketonen erhält man Laktone I. Ein möglicher Reaktionsmechanismus wird diskutiert.

Summary [1-CH3-14C] 1,3,7-trimethyldihydrouric acid which, in quantity, is the most important caffeine metabolite, was isolated and purified from the urine of rats fed with [1-CH3-14C] caffeine. The oral administration of this metabolite to rats showed that 1,3,7-trimethyldihydrouric acid was excreted unchanged in urine and was therefore an end product of caffeine metabolism. This result implies a new metabolic pathway of caffeine.  相似文献
