The effect of exogenous conjugated bilirubin on the urinary excretion of unconjugated14C-bilirubin by the Gunn rat

Resumen La inyección de bilirrubina conjugada a ratas Gunn con ligadura coledociana, produce un aumento de la excreción urinaria de bilirrubina C¹⁴ exógena o de la endógena sintetizada a partir de la inyección de ALA-C¹⁴ en dichos animales. Dicho aumento fue probado por la cristalización de la bilirrubina radioactiva de muestras de orina y por la radioactividad presente en el azopigmento A separado por cromatografía sobre papel. El aumento de pigmento I, demostrado en el suero por partitión química y en la orina por columna cromatográfica de fase inversa, permiten suponer la formación de un complejo de bilirrubina no conjugada radioactiva y de bilirrubina conjugada, como mecanismo del pasaje mencionado.

Summary Freshly precipitated uncojugated bilirubin (UCB) is solubilized rapidly and to a large extent by the sodium salts of di- and trihydroxy bile acids. The solubilization effect depending on bile salt concentration, pH and ionic strength is based on micellar mechanisms.

The urinary excretion of bilirubin after increased plasma hemoglobin concentration in dogs

Résumé L'excrétion rénale de la bilirubine dans l'urine varie entre 0,1 et 0,8 mg par jour dans une série de 113 chiens normaux. Avec une concentration d'hémoglobine plasmatique libre, excédant 50 mg/100 ml, les auteurs ont remarqué une augmentation sensible de l'excrétion urinaire de la bilirubine, sans que les taux sanguin, de la bilirubine ni le clearance de la créatinine soient changés. Les résultats font supposer un métabolisme local de l'hémoglobine en bilirubine dans les reins.     

The effect of fluorocitrate on urinary calcium and citrate excretion

Summary The renal handling of calcium and citrate was studied in dogs after the administration of fluorocitrate. The drug produced a significant increase in urinary calcium and citrate excretion. Net renal secretion of citrate occurred during the infusion of fluorocitrate since citrate clearances exceeded the glomerular filtration rate.     

Transfer of bilirubin through the liver of Gunn rats

Résumé L'absence d'un T_m lors de perfusion en quantité croissante de bilirubine non conjuguée chez le rat Gunn, ainsi que la diminution de la concentration biliaire de la bilirubine totale lors d'infusion simultanée de bilirubine non conjuguée et de Novobiocine, suggèrent la possibilité d'un transfert passif de la bilirubine non conjuguée du sang dans la bile, à travers la cellule hépatique.     

Degradation of haemoglobin-14C and urinary excretion of bilirubin-14C by the normothermic perfused isolated dog kidney

Résumé L'hémoglobine libre du sang, filtrée par les glomérules rénaux et partiellement absorbée par les tubules, est métabolisée par le tissu renal. A l'aide de l'hémoglobine marquée en¹⁴C, formée à partir de la glycine-2-¹⁴C et de la glycine-1-¹⁴C nos résultats prouvent que chez le chien mâle les reins métabolisent l'hémoglobine en bilirubine conjugée et excrètent cette dernière dans les urines.

The influence of estradiol on the distribution of exogenous cholesterol-4-C14 in the rat

Zusammenfassung Vorbehandlung mit Östradiolbenzoat führte bei kastrierten männlichen Ratten zu einer verminderten Aufnahme von oral zugeführtem Cholesterin-4-C¹⁴ in die Aorta. Bei kastrierten wie auch bei intakten Tieren war nach Östrogenbehandlung die Aufnahme von markiertem Cholesterin in die Leber erhöht. Durch Analyse der Faeces liess sich nachweisen, dass Östrogenbehandlung sowie Kastration die Sterolausscheidung beschleunigt.     

Pineal body and urinary sodium excretion in the rat

Zusammenfassung Ein salinischer Extrakt desCorpus pineale erzeugt bei normalen, nicht aber bei adrenalektomierten Ratten eine starke Retention von Natrium. Auf Grund der besonderen anatomischen Verhältnisse des Corpus pineale der Ratte vertreten wir die Auffassung, dass die wirksame Substanz, wahrscheinlich Adrenoglomerulotropin, in der Zirbeldrüse selbst erzeugt wird und nicht aus der Nachbarschaft dort angereichert wird.

Summary The effect of i.v. infusion of glucose on the hepatic handling of bilirubin was examined in rabbits. A significant increase in the excretion of conjugated bilirubin into the bile was observed, accompanied by a decrease in bilirubinemia. Hepatic bilirubin concentrations were lowered and the UDP-glucose concentrations and liver UDP-glucuronosyl and UDP-glucosyl transferase activities increased.

Utilization of exogenous adenine by the rat

Zusammenfassung Der Einbau von oral an Ratten verabreichtem Adenin-8-C¹³ in den Purinanteil der Nukleinsäuren wurde mit den in der Literatur für die Aufnahme von Adenin-1, 3-N¹⁵ beschriebenen Werten verglichen. Die wesentlich geringere Aufnahme von Adenin-8-C¹³ lässt darauf schliessen, dass der Einbau von exogenen Purinen unter Ringöffnung erfolgt.     

Uptake from blood and conjugation of bilirubin by the intestinal Mucosa of Wistar,Gunn and hepatectomized rats

Resumen Se infundió bilirrubina no conjugada en tres grupos de ratas: normales, totalmente hepatectomizadas y Gunn homocigotas, observándose la aparición de bilirrubina conjugada en la mucosa intestinal de los dos primeros grupos. Dichos experimentos, confirmados con el uso de bilirrubina-¹⁴C, demuestran que la bilirrubina no conjugada sérica puede ser captada y conjugada por la mucosa intestinal de la rata.

In vitro studies on bilirubin transport by the small intestine of the rat

Resumen Se estudió el transporte de bilirrubina no conjugada en asas intestinales aisladas y perfundidas de rata. Los resultados indican un pasaje bidireccional con la probable participación de un mecanismo de difusión simple.

Influence of dithiocarb on the biliary excretion of paracetamol and bilirubin in rats

Summary In bile-fistula rats, the biliary elimination of conjugated paracetamol and conjugated bilirubin is diminished by simultaneous administration of dithiocarb. This dithiocarb effect could be the result of the interference with the glucuronidation of the compounds.
