Zusammenfassung Die Struktur von Pluchin, einer quaternären Base ausPluchea lanceolata, wurde als die des Betainhydrochlorids aufgeklärt. Damit sind auch die mit Pluchin beobachteten biologischen Wirkungen verständlich.

Zusammenfassung Aus der Fleischschale der Nüsse vonSapindus laurifolius wurden ausser Hederagenin 2 Triterpene isoliert. Das eine wurde als Oleanolsäure identifiziert, und das andere (Sapindic-Säure) erwies sich als ¹² 3,23-oxido-oleanen-28-säure.

Zusammenfassung Aus den zerkleinerten Blättern vonCyanotis vaga (Commelinaceae) wurde durch Benzolextraktion und Chromatographie mit Silikagel eine neue Substanz isoliert: C₂₇H₄₄O₇ (Sp. 146–151), die nach den spektrometrischen Daten (IR, NMR, UV, MS) mit dem Insektenhormon Ecdysteron stereoisomer ist.

Summary Various metabolites of the fungusPhyllosticta maydis have been isolated, particularly mevalonolactone. The most interesting of these compounds, which is highly toxic to corn seeds (Zea mays), and which is probably a complex polyol, is the subject of the present report.Acknowledgment. A new,unexpected marine source of a molting hormone. Isolation of ecdysterone in large amounts from the zoanthidGerardia savaglia

Summary Ecdysterone was found in large amounts in the Mediterranean zoanthidGerardia savaglia both immediately after its collection and after it had been kept for 15 months in an aquarium. This is the first time that an ecdysteroid has been found in a marine animal which does not belong to the phylum Arthropoda.Acknowledgments. We are grateful to Dr E. Chemical investigation of the seeds ofAlbizzia procera benth

Zusammenfassung Aus dem Samen vonAlbizzia procera Benth wurden ausser Machaerinsäure 4 triterpenoide Sapogenine isoliert (Verbindung A und B, Proceragenin A und B). Es wurde bewiesen, dass die Verbindung A das 28 21-Lacton der Machaerinsäure mit einer Konformationsänderung am Ring D oder E ist, während die Verbindung B als Äthylmachaerinat identifiziert wurde. Bei Proceragenin A und B handelt es sich um Dihydroylactone.
