Increased proliferation of rat mesothelial cells after intraperitoneal endotoxin injection

Zusammenfassung Die i.p. Injektion von Endotoxin führt bei der Ratte zum vermehrten Auftreten von Mitosen in Mesothelzellen. Vereinzelt kommt es zur Verbreiterung der Interzellularräume, äusserst selten treten Siegelringzellen auf. Es wird vermutet, dass eine geringe endotoxinbedingte Zellschädigung den Stimulus zur Mesothelzellproliferation darstellt.     

Effect of actinomycin D on RNA and protein synthesis in regions of developing frog embryos

Résumé Aux stades neurula et bourgeon caudal du développement embryonnaire deRana pipiens, traitée à l'actinomycine D, la réduction de la synthèse de protéine est proportionellement moindre que celle du RNA. Aux niveaux semblables de l'inhibition de la synthèse du RNA, la synthèse de protéine a diminué plus fortement dans la région de l'endoderme que dans les cellules de l'ectoderme-mésoderme dorsaux, aux stades embryonnaires mentionnés plus haut. Les données suggèrent que le D-RNA se conserve mieux dans le cytoplasme des cellules de l'ectoderme-mésoderme dorseaux que dans celui des cellules de l'endoderme.

The kinetics of cerebral RNA synthesis in relation to the route of injection

Zusammenfassung Nachweis, dass die RNS-Synthese im Gehirn sich nach der Art der Injektion der radioaktiven Substanz richtet, während die Umsatzgeschwindigkeit von³H-Uridin in nicht-nukleotiden Substanzen ebenfalls von der Injektionsmethode abhängig ist.     

The composition of extracted nuclei of developing frog embryos used as template material for RNA synthesis in vitro

Résumé Les quantités de protéines basiques et résiduelles, de phosphoprotéine et ded-RNA se trouvant dans les noyaux extraits d'embryons deRana pipiens diminuent en passant du stade de blastula à celui de la larve. Cette évidence suggère que l'accumulation progressive des protéines ou dud-RNA, en masquant le DNA n'offre pas le contrôle principal de la synthèse de l'RNA in vivo. Une réduction de la quantité de l'endogène RNA polymerase fonctionelle incluse dans la protéine résiduelle explique mieux la réduction de la synthèse dud-RNA dans les stades plus avancés du développement embryonnaire.     

Serum and liver radioactivity levels in mice after intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injection of [14C]orotic acid

Summary [¹⁴C]Orotic acid was rapidly distributed in blood after, both i.p. and s.c. injection but was not completely absorbed from the peritoneal cavity until 20 min after injection. S.c. injection should be an acceptable alternative to i.p. injection although the incorporation into the liver acid soluble- and RNA-fractions was somewhat delayed after the s.c. injection.This work was supported by grants from the Carl Trygger Foundation and the Foundation of Director Albert Påhlsson.     

Induction of post-irradiation conditioned avoidance behavior by intraperitoneal injection of brain tissues

Zusammenfassung Man kann «post-irradiation»-bedingtes Ablehnungsverhalten indirekt herbeifuhren, indem man Hirngewebe von abgerichteten Mäusen in den Peritonealraum der unabgerichteten Mause injiziert. Die «Empfänger» verhalten sich, als seien sie selbst dem Saccharinbevorzugungs-Test und anschliessend ionisierender Bestrahlung ausgesetzt worden. Wir haben zur Zeit noch keine stichhaltige Erklärung für diese interessante Beobachtung.

Induction of hemopoietic chimerism in the caprine fetus by intraperitoneal injection of fetal liver cells

Summary Intraperitoneal injection of allogeneic liver cells from 43-day-old male fetuses into normal 60-day female goat fetuses resulted in persistent hemopoietic chimerism in surviving recipients without clinical evidence of graft-versus-host disease. Transplantation of normal fetal liver cells into preimmunocompetent goat fetuses affected with -D-mannosidosis may provide an alternative strategy for evaluating hemopoietic stem cell transplantation in the treatment of human lysosomal storage diseases.

Papaverine enhances the negative inotropic effect of acetylcholine in rat auricles

Summary The negative inotropic effect of acetylcholine in rat left auricles is enhanced in the presence of the phosphodiesterase inhibitor papaverine. This result favours the idea of a cyclic GMP-mediated action of acetylcholine in the heart.I thank Lydia Paragnik for help. Selected decrease of haemocytes of the freshwater snailPlanorbarius corneus (L.) (Gastropoda,Pulmonata) after bacteria injection

Summary The decrease of haemolymph phagocytic cells (SH) inPlanorbarius corneus after bacterial injection seems to be mediated by humoral factor(s) released into the haemolymph. SH show different adhesiveness in vitro in the presence of bacterial metabolic products.
