Spontaneous release and during metrazol convulsions of 5-hydroxytryptamine in some brain regions of conscious cat

Résumé Nous avons étudié par la technique pushpull sur des chats non anesthésiés, la libération du 5-HT dans les formations souscorticales et mésencéphaliques du cerveau, et y avons trouvé deux types. Dans le premier, nous avons pu constater la présence de la 5-HT par les méthodes biologiques, mais dans le second, cette amine manquait. Le métrazol (60–90 mg/kg) n'eut pas d'effet significatif sur la libération de la 5-HT.

Calcium evoked release of 5-hydroxytryptamine from the brain of the unanesthetized cat

Zusammenfassung Kalzium-Ionen wurden mittels lokaler Perfusion im Hypothalamus von Katzen vermehrt. Der 5-HT-Gehalt der Durchströmungsflüssigkeit nahm im Verhältnis zur Konzentration der Kalzium-Ionen zu.

Lack of long term effect of p-chlorophenylalanine on brain 5-hydroxytryptamine and electrocortical activity in conscious fetal sheep

Summary Daily infusion of p-chlorophenylalanine (p-CPA) into unaesthetized fetal sheep for 3–6 days did not reduce brain 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) concentrations or produce long-term changes in the pattern of electrocortical activity.Acknowledgments. Two types of 5-hydroxytryptamine release from isolated blood platelets

Zusammenfassung Nach Einwirkung von Reserpin auf gewaschene, isolierte Thrombocyten werden neben 5-Hydroxytryptamin, 5-Hydroxyindolessigsäure und eine Substanz mit den Characteristika von N-Acetyl-5-hydroxytryptamin im Inkubationsmedium (modifizierte Tyrodelösung) gefunden. Das Phenyläthylaminderivat Ro 4-6861 setzt 5-Hydroxytryptamin ohne Bildung dieser Metabolite frei.     

Post mortem increase of 5-hydroxytryptamine in rat brain after 5-hydroxytryptophan administration

Zusammenfassung Ratten mit und ohne Iproniazid-Vorbehandlung erhielten 30 min vor Dekapitation 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5HTP) i. p. Das intakte Hirn wurde bis zu 4 h bei 37° C, Zimmertemperatur und in 0·1n HCl aufbewahrt. In allen Fällen ergab sich eine starke postmortale 5-Hydroxytryptamin (5HT)-Vermehrung im Gehirn.Bei unbehandelten Kontrolltieren zeigte sich postmortal ein leichter 5HT-Abfall im Gehirn, der durch Iproniazid-Vorbehandlung aufgehoben wurde.     

Evoked release of 5-HT and NEFA from the hypothalamus of the conscious monkey during thermorégulation

Zusammenfassung Unterkühlungsexperimente mit Affen zeigen einen Anstieg des 5-HT-Gehaltes in der Durchströmungsflüssigkeit des vorderen Hypothalamus. Erwärmung der Tiere ergab 2–4fachen Anstieg eines NEFA-ähnlichen Stoffes.

A histamine-dependent increase of 5-hydroxytryptamine in the rat brain in vivo

Résumé Pendant l'excitation du systeme nerveux central du rat, on constate une augmentation de l'histamine et de la sérotonine cérébrales. L'augmentation de la sérotonine dépend de celle de l'histamine.     

Histochemical remarks on monoamine oxidase and acetylcholinesterase in some regions of amphibian brain

Summary The histochemical localization of monoamine oxidase and acetylcholinesterase has been studied in the cerebellum, optic tectum and telencephalon of three amphibian species. For acetylcholinesterase in particular, different histochemical methods and selective inhibitors have been used in order to investigate the actual nature of enzymatic activity revealed.     

High affinity binding of 5-hydroxytryptamine to some membrane preparations from cattle brain. Relationship to lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)]

5 hydroxytryptamine binds to crude brain membrane preparations with two different affinities (KD = 1 to 2 X 10(-9) M for the highest, 1 to 2 X 10(-8) M for the lowest). LSD also binds with two affinities (KD = 3 to 4 X 10(-9) M and KD = 2 to 3 X 10(-8) M). Subcellular distribution of these sites shows that binding involves the two binding affinities in microsomal membranes but solely the high affinity binding sites are present in purified synaptosomal membranes. High affinity sites for 5 HT and for LSD are different as no direct competitive inhibition is observed in that case. On microsomal membranes, direct relationship occurs between low affinity binding for 5 HT and high affinity binding for LSD.     

Observations on the 5-hydroxytryptamine (Enteramine) release caused by reserpine in the rat

Zusammenfassung Bei ausreichender Dosierung ist Reserpin imstande, eine praktisch vollkommene Freisetzung des 5-Oxytryptamins (5-OT) aus den Blutplättchen und der Milz zu verursachen und eine partielle Freisetzung aus der Magen-Darmschleimhaut und dem Gehirn. Die Ausgangswerte werden dann nur langsam erreicht. 5-OT exogener Herkunft hindert die reserpinbedingte Ausschüttung des endogenen 5-OT.     

Effect of methyl amphetamine on the brain 5-hydroxytryptamine content of isolated and aggregated rats

Zusammenfassung Amphetamin bewirkt eine Vermehrung von 5-Hydroxytryptamin im Gehirn von aggregierten Ratten, während Chlorpromazin diesen Effekt hemmt.     

Hypertension mediated by the activation of the rat brain 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor sites

Summary 5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) administered intraventricularly (i.vent.) in rats produced hypertension without considerable changes in heart rate. After transsection of the spinal cord or i.vent. administration of methysergide, 5-HT failed to produce the pressor effect. Thus, the hypertension results from the activation of 5-HT receptor sites of the rat brain.This work was supported by Union of Scientific Medical Institutions of Serbia (Grant No. 85).     

Inhibition of 5-hydroxytryptamine release from blood platelets by N2-isopropyl isonicotinic acid hydrazide

Zusammenfassung In Thrombozyten-reichem Blutplasma von Kaninchen vermindert Vorinkubation mit Iproniazid den durch Reserpin bedingten 5HT-Abfall der Thrombozyten. Dieser Iproniazid-Effekt ist auch in stark verdünnten Plättchen-Suspensionen vorhanden.
