Zusammenfassung Nachweis, dass die i.p. Injektion grosser Mengen vonl-Tyrosin die Permeabilität der hypothetischen «Blut-Hirn-Schranke» beträchtlich herabsetzt. Pyridoxalphosphat verhindert nicht nur diese Hemmung, sondern steigert die Absorption vonl-Lysin.

Effect of riboflavin deficiency on in vivo incorporation of C14 from labelled alanine into liver glycogen

Zusammenfassung Männliche Albino-Ratten, die während 45 Tagen mit Riboflavin-armer Kost ernährt wurden, zeigten erhöhten Glykogengehalt in der Leber, verbunden mit einer gesteigerten Aufnahme von C¹⁴ aus Alanin-1-C¹⁴ im Leberglykogen. Die Befunde lassen auf erhöhte Glykoneogenese in der Leber Riboflavin-armer Ratten schliessen.     

Effects of biotin deficiency on serum proteins and plasma amino acids

Summary In biotin-deficient rats, a decrease of total proteins, attributable to a decrease of albumin anda ₁-globulin fractions, a decrease of the pre--lipoproteins and an increase of the -lipoproteins, was observed, together with a rise of total amino acids. Such a situation may be related to the influence of biotin on the synthesis of RNA and proteins.     

Effect of free fatty acids and cholesterol in vitro on liver plasma membrane-bound enzymes

The effect of cholesterol and fatty acid treatment in vitro was tested on rat liver plasma membrane-bound enzymes and lipid fluidity. The observed alterations of membrane fluidity affect both (Na+-K+)-ATPase and Mg2+-ATPase activities but not 5'-nucleotidase; basal adenylate cyclase as well as its hormonal sensitivity were differentially affected by changes of membrane microenvironment.

Effect of lysine and threonine deficiency on the endogenous cholesterol content of rat plasma and liver

Riassunto È stato studiato l'effetto di diete ipoproteiche e isoazotate carenti e supplementate in lisina e treonina sul contenuto in colesterolo del fegato e del plasma.La carenza di aminoacidi essenziali induce negli animali più elevati livelli di colesterolo nel fegato, mentre diminuisce il colesterolo del plasma.In queste condizioni il ratto dimostra un comportamento simile all'uomo.

The free amino acid contents and growth rates of polyploidSaccharomyces

Zusammenfassung In einer genetisch nachweisbar polyploiden Familie von Saccharomyces wurden der Gesamtgehalt an freien intrazellulären Aminosäuren und die Geschwindigkeit der Zellteilungen in Abhängigkeit der Ploidie bestimmt. Es liess sich zeigen, dass die Geschwindigkeit der Zellteilungen von der Ploidie nicht beeinflusst wird, während der Gesamtgehalt an freien intrazellulären Aminosäuren sich direkt proportional mit der Zunahme der Ploidie vergrössert (Verhältnis 1:1).

The free amino acid pools of two aquatic hyphomycetes

Résumé Les masses communes des amino-acides libres chezTetracladium setigerum etHeliscus submersus ont été analysées par des méthodes chromatographiques utilisant une couche mince de cellulose. Elles sont typiques pour la plupart des mycètes. Les amino-acides libres n'apparaissant que rarement ont été: l'hydroxyproline chezT. setigerum cultivé sur de l'acide glutamique, l'éthanolamine chezT. setigerum etH. submersus cultivé sur l'acide glutamique et enfin l'acide -aminobutyrique chezH. submersus avec comme nutrition la tyrosine.     

Influence of some nitrogen sources on amino acid pool of two hyphomycetes

Riassunto E' stata determinata la composizione aminoacidica del micelio e dei liquidi colturali di due ifomiceti, isolati dal suolo, in relazione alla loro nutrizione azotata. Sono state riscontrate differenze quantitative, particolarmente evidenti nel caso di composti azotati la cui trasformazione porti alla formazione di ammoniaca, come urea e cianamide. Rispetto al nitrato sodico, si ha, soprattutto con cianamide, un notevole aumento quantitativo del pool aminoacidico e, in particolare, dell'acido -aminobutirrico, di cisteina e metionina.
