Release of labelled iodotyrosines in the thyroid vein of dog

Résumé L'injection de thyréostimuline (20–30 U) suivie d'une infusion de monoidotyrosine (MIT) ou bien de diiodotyrosine (DIT) stables dans l'artère thyroïdienne provoque la libération de MIT et DIT¹³¹I-marquées dans la veine thyroïdienne chez les chiens auxquels on a injecté du¹³¹I. La TSH seule élimine la thyroxine, la triiodothyronine et l'iodure marquées, mais non la iodotyrosine. L'injection d'une seule des 2 iodotyrosines élimine les 2 iodotyrosines marquées.     

Target organs of131I-chorionic gonadotrophine in immature female rat

Zusammenfassung Die Einlagerung von¹³¹I-HCG und¹³¹I-Serumalbumin in einige Organe unreifer Rattenweibchen wurde gammaradiometrisch gemessen. Eine signifikant erhöhte Akkumulation der Radioaktivität nach¹³¹I-HCG-Verabreichung wurde im Ovarium, dem Uterus, der Hypophyse und der Schilddrüse festgestellt.     

Interrelationship between the thyroid gland and sympathetic function

Resumen Se estudió en ratas Wistar macho, el efecto de la triiodotironina y el¹³¹I sobre el contenido y concentración noradrenalina y adrenalina, en glándula submaxilar y corazón. Se estudió también, el efecto del isoproterenol sobre el glucógeno de ambos órganos en animales controles e hipotiroideos experimentales. Se observó un comportamiento diferente en los depósitos de noradrenalina y adrenalina en los órganos estudiados. La triiodotironina produjo una disminución en la liberación o catabolismo de las catecolaminas y el¹³¹I parece causar el efecto opuesto y una disminución de la sensibilidad de los recptores adrenérgicos.

Riassunto Un gel composto dalle numerose frazioni proteiche dell'albumina d'uovo fu preparato ed usato quale mezzo di supporto per la separazione elettroforetica di siero-proteine marcate con¹³¹I.A causa di un notevole flusso elettro-osmotico la separazione proteica, dimostrabile mediante autoradiografia, si spostò verso la regione catodica mostrando tuttavia analogie con quella ottenibile su gel di amido.

Riassunto Nella cavia l'assorbimento intestinale della ouabaina-³H è risultato del 3,6%, del 6–7% e del 9,5% rispettivamente dopo 1, 5 e 15 ore dalla somministrazione orale in un intervallo di dosi tra 250 e 1000 g/kg. I rapporti tra le quantità di ouabaina-³H somministrate oralmente e le quote di farmaco assorbite attraverso la parete intestinale sono risultati lineari.     

Prolongation of skin homograft survival by local intralymphatic radioisotope injections

Zusammenfassung Injektion von¹³¹I-Lipiodol oder¹¹¹Ag-Kolloid beim Kaninchen in ein Ohrlymphgefäss verzögert die Abstossung eines Hautlappen-Hormotransplantes am Ohre wesentlich. Bei der Untersuchung der Verteilung intralymphatisch verabreichter Radioisotopen in den einzelnen Geweben wurde festgestellt, dass etwa 50% des¹¹¹Ag-Kolloids, aber unter 10% des¹³¹I-Lipiodols von den regionären Lymphknoten aufgenommen wird und dass Lipiodol hauptsächlich im Lungengewebe, Ag-Kolloid in der Leber gespeichert wird.     

Isotope scanning of subdural effusions in infancy

Zusammenfassung Die Methode der Scintigraphie der subduralen Effusion mit dem I¹³¹-Hippuran wird dargestellt. Bei der Subduralpunktion wird die abgelassene Subduralflüssigkeit durch 1–4 µC I¹³¹-Hippuran ersetzt. Mit dieser Isotopenscintigraphie ist es möglich, die horizontale Projektion der subduralen Effusion und die Stellen der sagittalen Naht sowie der grossen Fontanelle in normaler Grösse im Scintigramm zu registrieren.

Operant behavior of pre and post pubertal rats irradiated with I131 in the last trimester of gestation

Résumé Les petits de rates irradiées au 14^e jour de leur gestation, avec 3000 µC/kg de¹³¹I i.p. ont montré une plus grande réduction de leur capacité à presser sur un levier lorsqu'ls l'ont appris avant la puberté. Cet effet fut d'autant plus manifeste chez les animaux qui avaient été conditionnés lentement et qui ont généralement tendance à améliorer leur performance avec l'âge.

Inhibition of thyroid function following the administration of metopiron (SU-4885)

Zusammenfassung Die Goitrogen-Wirkung des Metopirons (SU-4885, CIBA) wurde in Feld- und Wüstenmaus mittels radioaktiven I¹³¹ untersucht. Das radioiodingebundene Protein (Pb I¹³¹) war nach SU-4885 vermindert. Die Zunahme der gesamten Radioaktivität in der Schilddrüse lag bei 49%. Metopiron wirkt als Schilddrüsen-Hemmer.

Zusammenfassung Die Wirkung der Eiweissmangeldi?t auf die Resorption von S³⁵-Methionin und J¹³¹-Triolein wurde untersucht. Die Resorption von Methionin wurde nicht wesentlich beeinflusst, w?hrend die Fettresorption nach 24t?gigem Eiweissmangel signifikant vermindert ist.

Expression profiling of Tas2r genes reveals a complex pattern along the mouse GI tract and the presence of Tas2r131 in a subset of intestinal Paneth cells

The chemical variability of the intestinal lumen requires the presence of molecular receptors detecting the various substances naturally occurring in the diet and as a result of the activity of the microbiota. Despite their early discovery, intestinal bitter taste receptors (Tas2r) have not yet been assigned an unambiguous physiological function. Recently, using a CRE-recombinant approach we showed that the Tas2r131 gene is expressed in a subset of mucin-producing goblet cells in the colon of mice. Moreover, we also demonstrated that the expression of the Tas2r131 locus is not restricted to this region. In the present study we aimed at characterizing the presence of positive cells also in other gastrointestinal regions. Our results show that Tas2r131⁺ cells appear in the jejunum and the ileum, and are absent from the stomach and the duodenum. We identified the positive cells as a subpopulation of deep-crypt Paneth cells in the ileum, strengthening the notion of a defensive role for Tas2rs in the gut. To get a broader perspective on the expression of bitter taste receptors in the alimentary canal, we quantified the expression of all 35 Tas2r genes along the gastrointestinal tract by qRT-PCR. We discovered that the number and expression level of Tas2r genes profoundly vary along the alimentary canal, with the stomach and the colon expressing the largest subsets.     

Accessibility of host cell lineages to medaka stem cells depends on genetic background and irradiation of recipient embryos

Chimera formation is a powerful tool for analyzing pluripotency in vivo. It has been widely accepted that host cell lineages are generally accessible to embryonic stem (ES) cells with the actual contribution depending solely on the intrinsic pluripotency of transplanted donor cells. Here, we show in the fish medaka (Oryzias latipes) that the host accessibility to ES cell contribution exhibits dramatic differences. Specifically, of three albino host strains tested (i ¹ , i ³ and af), only strain i ¹ generated pigmented chimeras. Strikingly, this accessibility is completely lost in i ¹ but acquired in i ³ after host γ-irradiation. Host irradiation also differentially affected ES cell contribution to somatic organs and gonad. Therefore, the accessibility of various host cell lineages can vary considerably depending on host strains and cell lineages as well as on irradiation. Our findings underscore the importance of host genotypes for interpreting donor cell pluripotency and for improving ES-derived chimera production.     

Chemical protection of mouse spermatocytes against gamma-rays with 2-mercaptopropionylglycine

Summary The radiosensitivity of primary spermatocytes in pachytene stage was estimated by counting the number of spermatids in the testes of control and MPG-treated mouse after exposure to 500, 1000 and 1500 R of Co⁶⁰ gammarays. For this purpose, control and MPG-treated mice were killed 5 days after irradiation and countings of spermatids was made in stages I and II of the tubules. It has been observed that, although there was a death of primary spermatocytes in irradiated MPG-protected groups, quantitatively significant protection was afforded by this drug at all the 3 dose-levels studied.     

Microméthode de dosage des anticorps antiallotype chez la Souris par un test de liaison avec le fragment Fc marqué à l'iode radioactif

Summary We describe a new binding test of anti-allotype antibodies anti-Igla from C 57 Bl/6 mouse serum with Fc fragments of CBA mouse IgG labelled with 131 (or 125) iodine. The precipitation of bound antibodies is achieved by rabbit anti-mouse Fab serum.
