Amino acid composition and sequence of crinia-angiotensin, an angiotensin II-like endecapeptide from the skin of the Australian frog Crinia georgiana.

Methanol extracts of the skin of the Australian amphibian Crinia georgiana contain large amounts of crinia-angiotensin II, a new angiotensin II-like peptide. This differs sharply from the conventional octapeptide angiotensins II in having attached the tripeptide Ala-Pro-Gly- to the N-terminus, and having an Ile residue substituted for the Val residue at position 6 from the C-terminus. Small amounts of angiotensin-like peptides have been traced, by radioimmunoassay, in skin extracts of some other Crinia species.

Amino acid composition of crystallized human myoglobin and haemoglobin

Riassunto È stata eseguita l'analisi cromatografica su carta degli aminoacidi costituenti la molecola della mioglobina ed emoglobina umana cristallizzate. I due pigmenti differiscono dal punto di vista qualitativo per il contenuto in cistina ed isoleucina. Il primo aminoacido si trova nella emoglobina e non nella mioglobina, il secondo solo nella miglobina.Risultati analoghi sono stati ottenuti con mioglobina ed emoglobina di cavallo.     

The effects of Δ-amino-laevulinic acid on sodium and water movement across frog skin

Zusammenfassung -Aminolävulinsäure (ALA) beeinflusst die Passage von Natrium und Wasser durch ein in vitro Präparat der Froschhaut. Dies bestätigt teilweise die Hypothese, dass ALA eine Rolle in gewissen Abnormalitäten der Nierenkanälchen bei akuter klinischer Porphyrie spielt.     

Amino acid composition of crude and germinated guarseed flour protein (Cyamopsis Psoralioides)

Zusammenfassung Untersuchungen über die Aminosäurezusammensetzung des Mehles von ungekeimten und gekeimten Guarsamen (Cyamopsis Psoralioides), die ein billiges, hochproteinhaltiges Nahrungsmittel darstellen, haben ergeben, dass die Aminosäurekombination im gekeimten Samen einer guten Proteinqualität entspricht. Die Prüfungen über den biologischen Wert dieses Mehles sind im Gange.     

Effects of Ag+ on frog skin: Interactions with oxytocin,amiloride and ouabain

Summary Different biological effects of Ag⁺ (10^–4 M) were found depending on its presence in the outer or the inner solution bathing the frog skin. A marked increase in the electrical conductance and an interference with the action of oxytocin and amiloride were found only when Ag⁺ was added to the outer solution. Results suggest that Ag⁺ affects several transport processes, in particular the permeability of the Na entry pathways.This work was supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, grant No. 1.300.73. Occurrence of Asn2, Leu5-caerulein in the skin of the african frog Hylambates maculatus

Summary The skin of the African frog, Hylambates maculatus, contains large amounts of a caerulein-like peptide, which has been identified as Asn², Leu⁵-caerulein.
