‘Disfacilitation’ of red nucleus neurones

Résumé Dans les neurones du noyau rouge, il a été demontré par l'enregistrement intracellulaire que les potentiels hyperpolarisants de longue durée sont produits par la stimulation de la région du noyau interposé et du cortex cérébelleux. En changeant le potentiel de membrane de la cellule, l'amplitude de l'hyperpolarisation diminue ou augmente parallèlement avec celle du potentiel postsynaptique excitateur (EPSP). En conséquence, l'hyperpolarisation ne provient pas du potentiel postsynaptique inhibiteur (IPSP), mais d'une réduction de l'effet tonique facilitateur exercé par le noyan interposé sur les neurones du noyau rouge («disfacilitation»).     

The mode of cerebral activation of red nucleus neurones

Zusammenfassung Elektrische Reizung des sensorimotorischen Kortex ruft monosynaptische EPSPs, in den grossen Zellen des N. ruber der Katze hervor (RNZellen). Die kortikalen Punkte, von denen EPSPs hervorgerufen werden können, sind somatotopisch so angeordnet, dass sie mit der histologischen Projektion der kortikorubralen Fasern übereinstimmen. Membran-Hyper-Polarisierung, die stark genug ist, um EPSPs vom N. interpositus zu vergrössern, hat keinen Einfluss auf Amplituden oder Zeitfluss von cerebral hervorgebrachten EPSPs. Es wird daraus geschlossen, dass kortiko-rubrale Fasern synaptischen Kontakt mit den Dendriten von RN-Zellen machen.     

Organization of the mammalian red nucleus and its interconnections with the cerebellum

Summary The red nucleus in monkeys and rats consists of a magnocellular, rubrospinal portion which receives its cerebellar information from the nucleus interpositus, and a parvocellular, rubroolivary portion which receives cerebellar afferents from the nucleus lateralis. Distinct interpositorubrospinal and dentatorubroolivary projections are therefore common to these 2 species.

Regularly firing neurones in the rat suprachiasmatic nucleus

Summary The spontaneous discharge of some suprachiasmatic neurones in vivo and in vitro was found to exhibit a very constant interspike interval. In vivo these cells were comparatively rare and appeared to be mutually coupled. These findings are discussed in relation to coupled oscillator theories of circadian rhythm generation.

Zusammenfassung Die chemische Sensitivität von Neuronen des Nucleus reticularis paramedianus mit cerebellärer Projektion wurde iontophoretisch untersucht. Die Mehrzahl der Neurone werden erregt durch Acetylcholin und 5-HT, dagegen gehemmt durch Noradrenalin.     

Reaching-related potentials in caudate nucleus and cerebellum of rats

Summary Electrical correlates of the lateralized reaching reaction were studied in rats with implanted electrodes. Averaged event-related potentials (ERPs) in the cerebellar dentate nucleus consisted of a negative wave coinciding with reach onset and followed 70 msec later by a positive deflection. The most prominent component of the more variable caudate ERPs was a negative wave culminating 60–120 msec after reach onset. The positive and negative ERP deflections corresponded to inhibitory and excitatory reactions respectively, at the single neuron level.     

Ascending projections from the red nucleus in the decerebellate cat

Résumé Un an après ablation totale du cervelet, des lésions stéréotaxiques ont été pratiquées au niveau du noyau rouge. A la suite des coagulations de la seule partie rostrale (parvocellulaire) du N.R., on trouve de la dégénérescence préterminale au niveau des noyaux ventralis lateralis, ventralis anterior, et centrum medianum du thalamus, et de la zona incerta du subthalamus.     

Topographical investigation of cortical afferents to the red nucleus in the cat

Résumé Il a été montré, par enregistrement unitaire, que les afférences à partir du cortex moteur sur les cellules rubrospinales proviennent seulement de l'aire 4. Ces projections sont organisées de manière topique, bien que certaines cellules soient activées par des zones corticales étendues.
