The in vitro effect of adrenergic agents and related compounds on triglyceride levels of guinea-pig lymphoid cells.

Isoproterenol, epinephrine and norepinephrine were highly potent in decreasing the triglyceride levels of the splenic lymphoid cells from guinea-pigs in vitro, while they were quite inert upon the inguinal lymph node cells.     

The effect of antifibrinolytic agents on wound healing in vitro

Summary The effect of antifibrinolytic agents (antiplasminogen activators) on wound healing was studied in vitro. All these substances caused the proliferating epithelium to change direction and migrate to stratum corneum, resulting in a everted epiboly formation.     

Influence of adrenergic blocking agents upon morphine and catecholamine analgesic effect

Resumen Las catecolaminas adrenalina (0,25 y 0,5 mg/kg) noradrenalina (0,5 y 1 mg/kg) e isoproterenol (4 y 8 mg/kg) producen efecto analgésico significativo en lauchas. También aumentan (adrenalina 0,25 mg/kg, noradrenalina 0,5 mg/kg e isoproterenol 4 mg/kg) el efecto analgésico de pequeñas dosis de morfina (1 mg/kg). El bloqueador -adrenérgico dihidroergotamina (4 mg/kg) no influencia substancialmente estas acciones, pero el bloquente-adrenérgico propranolol (1 mg/kg) bloquea los efectos analgésicos de la morfina, adrenalina e isoproterenol, no siendo tan efectivo contra la noradrenalina. Se deduce que debe existir un compromiso de receptores-adrenérgicos en el mecanismo de los efectos analgésicos de las catecolaminas y también de la morfina.

Zusammenfassung Mit Hilfe der intrazellulären Mikroelektrodentechnik wirk gezeigt, dass Parenchymzellen der Meerschweinchenleber in der Gewebekultur hyperpolarisieren, wenn sympathomimetische Drogen ionophoretisch appliziert werden.     

Diminution of 5-hydroxytryptamine in thrombocytesin vitro by chlorpromazine and related compounds

Riassunto Cloropromazina, imipramina, cloroprotixene e amitriptilinain vitro diminiscono la 5-idrossitriptamina (5HT) endogena nei trombociti di coniglio e, per quanto si è visto, anche in quelli umani. Nel plasma di coniglio pretrattato con isocarbossazide, inibitore della mono-amino-ossidasi, si osserva un corrispondente aumento di 5HT. Cocaina, -metil-dopa e triptamina hanno un effetto meno pronunciato sulla 5HT delle piastrine.

Résumé Des disperisions aqueuses de progestogènes et estrogènes stimulent l'agrégation des plaquettes de cobaye produites par ADP in vitro. Le diéthylstilbestérol et l'hexestrol qui ne sont pas des stéroïdes, mais possèdent une activité estrogénique, ont un effet inhibitoire sur l'agrégation.     

Close correlation between levels of cholesterol and free fatty acids in lymphoid cells

Summary A close correlation was found between the levels of free cholesterol and free fatty acids in lymphoid cells from thymus, spleen or lymph node of mice and guinea-pigs. This relationship suggests a possible role of cholesterol regulating the fatty acid levels in lymphoid cells.     

Varying degrees of ventromedial hypothalamic destruction in the weanling rat and its effect on plasma triglyceride and cholesterol levels

Zusammenfassung Es wurden ein- und dreipaarige elektrolytische Läsionen in den ventromedialen Kernen von Ratten gesetzt, wobei es zu einer Erhöhung von Triglyceriden und Cholesterin kam. Dieses Hypothalamus-Gebiet enthält Regulationszentren des Serumlipidspiegels.

Influence in vitro of high-energy adenosine phosphates and related compounds on anaphylaxis of isolated smooth muscle

Zusammenfassung Im Schultz-Dale'schen Versuch wird festgestellt, dass Adenosin-Triphosphat und Adenosin-Diphosphat die anaphylaktische Reaktion verstärken.d-Glukose-6-Phosphat wirkt abschwächend, während Kreatin-Phosphat keinen Einfluss auf die Reaktion hat.     

Change in levels of cholesterol and free fatty acids of lymphoid cells during tumor growth

Summary Growth of Ehrlich's ascitic carcinoma in mice resulted in increase of free cholesterol and free fatty acids in lymphoid cells from thymus, spleen and cervical lymph node, but decrease of these lipids in the cells from mesenteric lymph node.
