Summary The authors demonstrate that a hydroxy derivative of fluorescein — Mercurascan 203 — very rapidly and selectively accumulates in the injured muscle and in the ischaemic myocardium and is cleared rapidly from the blood and other tissues. In vivo, scanning is positive soon after Mercurascan-203 administration.  相似文献

Insulin can influence rates of glucose utilization by muscle and possibly other tissues via both direct and indirect effects. It can control the rate of fatty acid mobilization from adipose tissue and the rate of fatty acid oxidation in muscle, and the latter inhibits glucose utilization and oxidation. Insulin may influence the levels of insulin-like growth factors I and II, both of which have effects on rates of glucose utilization by muscle. The intertissue cycle between glucose and lactate — the Cori cycle, which is influenced by insulin — may provide another novel mechanism for control of blood glucose. How far other anti-insulin hormones affect these processes is not clear.  相似文献

Summary A simple assay is described for phospholipase A in chromatographic fractions. 0.01 ml of the fraction is added to 1 ml of a 1% solution of purified lecithin in ether (100 vol) — picoline (10 vol) — 4.5 mmol CaCl2 (1 vol). The presence of phospholipase A is indicated by the appearance of a turbidity due to precipitation of lysolecithin. The lag period until precipitation occurs gives an indication of the relative concentration of enzyme present.  相似文献

Summary The activity of several enzymes in cross sections of the M. latissimus dorsi of the adult chick was examined. Summary Cholinesterase reactivators — trimedoxim, methoxim and obidoxim — injected in the dose of 20 mg/kg s.c., increase muscle glycogen concentration in normal, but not in adrenalectomized rats. This effect may be in connection with simoultaneously found rise of serum corticosteron level. Trimedoxim decreases adrenaline, methoxim and obidoxim noradrenaline concentration in adrenals.  相似文献

Summary The activity of aldolase and succinatdehydrogenase (SDH) in white and red skeletal muscle of young (3–7 months) and old (20–30 months) rats has been determined. In addition also the SDH of liver was measured. The activity of aldolase is higher in white than in red muscles, while SDH shows a higher activity in red than in white muscles. The activity of aldolase is not influenced by ageing in white muscles, but decreased in red muscles by 23%. In old animals the activity of SDH is 34% less in white and 52% less in red muscles. In liver the activity is 44% less. The significance of these changes for the energy metabolism of skeletal muscle is discussed.  相似文献

Summary In isolated mitochondria of heart muscle from rabbits and oxen there is, under suitable conditions, an accumulation of Ca++, which is significantly enhanced by elevating the K+/Na+ quotient of the incubation medium. K-strophanthine (10–5–10–7) does not influence the accumulation of Ca++ by the mitochondria of heart muscle. Therefore the intracellular increase in exchangeable Ca++ observed after digitalis-glycosides could be explained by a decrease of the intracellular K+/Na+ quotient, which is caused by inhibition of the membrane ATPase and diminishes the capacity for Ca++ accumulation in mitochondria.  相似文献

Summary Surviving muscle fibres of a molluscan smooth muscle (ABRM) in catch exhibit a characteristic pattern of longitudinal stripes when examined with theNomarski technique (Differential interference contrast). The pattern appears to be due to aggregated paramyosin-filaments; it disappears after abolishing the catch with 5-hydroxytryptamine or — in freeze-dried preparation — after raising the pH of the ATP-salt solution.  相似文献

Summary F-1,6-P has been shown to increase the rate of non-oxydative heptoformation from glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate in enzymatic preparations of rat skeletal muscle. Summary Some correlations between the physicochemical properties of drugs and their pharmacokinetic behaviour are outlined. Based on the permeability characteristics of simple model membranes (porous membrane, lipid membrane) permeation and distribution of drugs in the animal body can be described and understood on simple physico-chemical terms. Some clinically important aspects — the absorption of drugs from the intestinal tract, the passage through the blood-brain-barrier and the renal excretion as governed by passive tubular reabsorption — are discussed in more detail. Thereby it appears that the solubility of a drug in lipid material, which may be suitably expressed as partition coefficient between an organic solvent and a buffer solution of pH 7.4, is a major factor in determining its pharmacokinetic behaviour.  相似文献

Summary (1) It is shown that in the chloroplasts ofChlamydomonas andAnthoceros thick, dense lamellae and thin, less dense lamellae alternate. (2) In the chloroplasts of many phanerogame plants with grana, thin less dense lamellae limit the parcel of thick grana-lamellae above and below. Since the differentiations 1 and 2 are present in the photographs of many publications (although not mentioned), it is suggested that this kind of lamellarmodel has often been overlooked until now. — The « Kristallgitterstruktur » has been found in a cryptogamous plant,Selaginella, in young chloroplasts, for the first time. The connection between the elementary particles of the crystal-lattice and the young lamellae has been verified again. — The possibility of formation of double lamellae by fusion of blastulae or tubuli is discussed in detail.  相似文献

Summary The enzymatic hydrolysis of propionylcholine (PrCh), acetylthiocholine (AcThCh), and butyrylthiocholine (BuThCh), by extracts of the muscle rectus abdominis, was determined. Inhibition of this hydrolysis by D.F.P. and 3318 CT [bis(pipéridinométhylcoumaranyl- 5)cétone diméthiodide] — utilized over a range of concentrations covering both specific and non-specific concentrations—showed that PrCh is hydrolyzed by an acetylcholinesterase (70%) and an Xcholinesterase (30%), AcThCh by the AcChE (70%), the XChE (15%) and a thioesterase (15%) and BuThCh by the XChE (70%) and a thioesterase (30%).  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Dieser Aufsatz ist die schriftliche Fassung eines Vortrages des Autors anlässlich eines Symposiums über Schwache Wechselwirkungen, welches im Sommer 1991 zum Rücktritt von Berthold Stech in Heidelberg abgehalten wurde. Darin wird gezeigt, dass zwei frühe Arbeiten von Stech und Jensen aus dem Jahre 1955 den Keim der später so wichtig gewordenen chiralen Symmetrie enthalten, welche die universelle V-A-Kopplung der Schwachen Wechselwirkungen zur Folge hat. Es werden die wichtigsten Etappen dieser interessanten Entwicklung geschildert, welche 1958 zu einem vorläufigen Abschluss gekommen ist.Ich möchte es Ihrem Urteil überlassen, wie weit wir inwischen in der erhofften Entwicklung wirklich vorangekommen sind. Summary In the rat the intraperitoneally administered phlorrhizin significantly reduces the phagocytosis of bacteria by leucocytes, as determined by thePlatonow-Ludány-Vajda method, with the mean decrease being — 33.5%. The effect is reversible. The phenomenon appears to be due to an alteration of carbohydrate metabolism in the leucocytes. The experiments supply new evidence supporting the view that alongside biophysical factors (surface effects) also cellular metabolic processes may play important roles in the phagocytotic activity of leucocytes.  相似文献

Summary The syncytial sprouts of the human placenta were found to give a distinctly stronger reaction for glucose-6-phosphat-dehydrogenase, DPNH-diaphorase and steroid-3--ol-dehydrogenase than other regions of the trophoblastic syncytium. Besides they show a more intensive basophilic reaction and higher contents of fat than other parts of the syncytium. Therefore the syncytial sprouts can be regarded as the areas of the trophoblastic syncytium that are specialized for estrogen production.

Summary This lecture was held in Zürich to commemorate the 70th birthday of Prof.Paul Karrer; it briefly outlines his life-work as a scientist and then reviews, in greater detail, some of his important work in various fields: vegetable dyestuffs (carotenoids), vitamins (particularly vitamins A, E and K) and curare alkaloids.As is the purpose of this lecture, a review is also given of the author's own work: ergot alkaloids and their derivatives; cardiac glycosides of squill, digitalis etc.; and finally, the most recent results of research on chlorophyll — the crystallization of natural chlorophylla andb after many years of endeavour.

Summary Efficient excited state formation — much higher than that hitherto expected — may occur in organelles and in intact cells. Excited triplet states can be enzymatically generated in high yields by different routes. An example is the oxidation of isobutanal to acetone and formic acid, catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase. Other enzymatic systems that generate triplet carbonyls are linear aliphatic aldehydes when oxidized by peroxidase/O2, or the indole-3-acetic acid/peroxidase/O2-reaction. The latter is widespread in plants.This new field — photobiochemistry without light — has led to a growing awareness of the idea that cells may utilize excited states to trigger photochemical processes even in the dark.
