3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3) and 3,3',5'-triiodothyronine (rT3) were measured by radioimmunoassay in saline extracts of neonates and human adult thyroid tissues and of fetuses, Piglets and adult Swine thyroid tissues. In all these extracts, T3 content was higher than rT3 content whatever the period of development. Both triiodoamino acids represent a small percentage of the iodinated protein in thyroid tissues.  相似文献

The levels of beta-trace protein and lysozyme were estimated in amniotic fluids from normal fetuses and from fetuses with neuraltube defects. The values of these proteins in normal amniotic fluids were found to be similar to those detected in fetuses with anencephaly and spina bifida. The levels of lysozyme were shown to be correlated with gestational age.  相似文献

Pregnant Swiss albino mice were exposed to low doses of X-rays (approximately 9 mGy) in the range used for diagnostic exposure, on day 3.5 of gestation (preimplantation period), day 6.5 (early organogenesis period) or day 11.5 (late organogenesis period). The fetuses were examined on the 18th day of gestation. Exposure at 3.5 days post coitus (d.p.c.) resulted in a significant increase in prenatal mortality, and an increased incidence of retarded fetuses was observed after exposure at 3.5 and 6.5 d.p.c. The major effect of exposure at 11.5 d.p.c. was a significant decrease in the fetal head size and brain weight.  相似文献

The solubility of granulopoiesis inhibiting factor (GIF) in various aqueous and organic solvents was investigated. GIF is soluble in water, 10% acetic acid, and 10% pyridine. It is not extractable by 1-butanol at low and high pH. A high solubility was found in polar organic solvents (ethanol-acetone 9:1, and chloroform-methanol 1:1), whereas GIF seems to be insoluble in pure chloroform.  相似文献

Summary Nitrate reductase was protected from inactivation in wheat leaf extracts by NADH, while NADPH was less effective. NAD, NADP or adenylates did not affect nitrate reductase inactivation in vitro. Glutamine synthetase was more stable than nitrate reductase and was protected from inactivation by ATP. ADP, AMP or pyridine nucleotides had no or only a minor effect on the decrease of glutamine synthetase activity in extracts. The caseolytic activity extracted from senescing leaves was slightly decreased by NADH and NADPH but this effect was not sufficient to explain the stabilization of nitrate reductase by NADH. Oxidized pyridine nucleotides and adenylates had no major effect on the caseolytic activity under the conditions used.This work was supported by grant 3.067-0.81 from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Summary Pituitary responsiveness to LHRH and anti-LHRH serum was investigated in fetal rats aged 18.5–22.5 days. Synthetic LHRH injection in utero into fetuses brought about a remarkable depletion of pituitary-LH with a corresponding increase of serum-LH on day 18.5. On the contrary, anti-LHRH serum administration to day-20.5 fetuses caused a significant augmentation of pituitary-LH 1 day later. These data indicate that LH-gonadotrophs respond to LHRH even on day 18.5, and that endogenous LHRH begins to affect LH-gonadotrophs on day 20.5.This work was supported by a grant from Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Japan. Summary Pregnant Swiss ICR mice were injected i.p. with 0.5 g of epidermal growth factor (EGF) per g b. wt at 15, 16 and 17 days of gestation and fetuses were removed at 18 days of gestation. EGF treatment had no effect on the weight of the fetuses and on the length of the small intestine. No modification of the protein and DNA contents was noted. Summary The transformation of pyridine and several hydroxypyridines was investigated under different physiological conditions. Pyridine and 2-, 3- and 4-hydroxypyridine were metabolized aerobically within 9 days in a mineral salt medium inoculated with 10% sewage sludge. Under anaerobic conditions in the presence of nitrate or sulfate, pyridine and 3-hydroxypyridine were metabolized after a lag period of 2 months, while no transformation of 2- or 4-hydroxypyridine was detected. Experiments with14C-labeled-pyridine showed that under denitrifying as well as under sulfate-reducing conditions pyridine was oxidized to carbon dioxide. Disappearance of nitrate and sulfate under anaerobic conditions was 79% and 85%, respectively, of the amount predicted from the stoichiometric equation for the complete transformation of pyridine.  相似文献

Prenatal stress significantly reduced the number of progeny born to 47% of the female offspring and significantly increased the incidence of low birthweight young. None of these litters survived by the tenth postpartum day when serum prolactin levels were significantly reduced. Upon autopsy, these females had twice as many uterine implantation sites than the number of fetuses they bore, suggesting that a) the reduced postpartum serum prolactin most likely was the cause rather than the effect of the neonatal mortality and b) major hormonal deficiencies (possibly gonadotropic-related) were present even before giving birth.  相似文献

When N-methylformamide is administered to rats on the 11th day of pregnancy approximately 50% of the fetuses are resorbed and a reduced weight of the developed animals is found in comparison to the controls on the 21th day (delivery by Caesarian section). The toxic effect is increased by using nicotinamide and methionine. If a combination of these substances is employed practically all fetuses are resorbed. Tryptophan, however, has a considerably protective influence. N-Methylformamide has no influence on the NAD-synthesis induced by nicotinamide or tryptophan. It does, however, inhibits the activity of the ADPR transferase.  相似文献

Summary A new probe (tip diameter=700 m) consisting of a micro-light guide and a silver wire electrode was constructed to measure pyridine nucleotide fluorescence and field potentials from nerve tissues. Good kinetic correlations were found between the changes in field potentials and tissue pyridine nucleotide fluorescence caused by stoppage or by resumption of superfusion.  相似文献
