Summary Baroreceptor activity was increased after i.v. infusion of acebutolol in rabbits with an intact circulation, and in rabbits with a total cardiopulmonary by-pass. In rabbits with an intact circulation, renal nerve activity was reduced.We wish to thank Mrs H. Bodard and Mrs F. Summary The cell wall of an aerobic bacillus isolated with trypsin treatment produces in rabbits a polysaccharide antibody which is responsible for the majority of the serological reactions of the cell surface.After digestion of the cell wall polysaccharide with lysozym, intact, naked protoplasts can be obtained in isotonic saccharose solution. This produces in rabbits an antiserum which contains no polysaccharide antibody and which reacts not only with the protoplasts but also with a thermolabile protein of the bacterial surface.  相似文献

The sperm-releasing activity of a gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, Buserelin (GnRH) and hypophysis homogenate (PD) preparations was studied in intact and hypophysectomized (PDX) frogs, Rana esculenta. In addition, human chorion gonadotropin (hCG) was tested in PDX animals, and GnRH antagonist (GnRHA) treatments were carried out in intact and PDX animals, in combination with the hormonal injections. GnRH or PD treatments were able to elicit spermiation in intact and PDX animals. While GnRH, injected 24 h later, was again effective in inducing spermiation in intact animals, this was not the case in PDX frogs. GnRHA counteracted GnRH effects in intact frogs. Moreover, in PDX animals GnRHA injections counteracted the sperm-releasing activity induced by hCG or GnRH, but failed to inhibit sperm-releasing activity induced by PD homogenate.  相似文献

Summary The active principle ofPsilocybe mexicana Heim, Psilocybin, is without marked effects on the isolated organs (seminal vesicle, intestine and auricle of the guinea pig; rat uterus) but exerts an actionin vivo which resembles a slight sympathetic stimulation. In unanaesthetized rabbits it produces mydriasis, tachycardia, tachypnea, hyperthermia and hyperglycemia, in unanaesthetized mice mydriasis and piloerection. The EEG (curarized rabbits) after 1–2 mg/kg Psilocybin shows an alerting pattern (disappearance of spindle activity and of slow waves). Spinal reflexes of the cat are predominantly enhanced. However, the motor activity of mice, rabbits and monkeys is unaffected or even slightly depressed. In anaesthetized cats and dogs Psilocybin affects blood pressure and heart rate, the effect depending on dosage and species.  相似文献

Summary Trypsin causes an activation of serine sulfhydrase in the liver extracts from intact animals, but inhibits enzyme activity in the liver of ethionine treated rats. During the onset of heat stroke, rabbits displayed hyperthermia (42.8°C), and decreased cerebral perfusion pressure and decreased cerebral blood flow (as reflected by a prolonged cerebral circulation time) compared to those of normothermic rabbits. On the other hand febrile rabbits, during the fever plateau did not show the above responses, although they had a similar level of hyperthermia (42.4°C). The data support the concept that cerebral ischemia is the main cause for the onset of the heat stroke syndrome.The work reported here was supported by grants from the National Science Council (Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China).  相似文献

Summary The possible release of prostaglandin (PG)-like substances was studied in isolated perfused kidneys from intact and from intrarenal endotoxin (Lipopolysaccharide-LPS)-injected rabbits, using the venous outflow superflow superfuse assay organ technique. Injection of LPS into the renal artery of an LPS-pretreated kidney caused a release of thromboxane A2 (TXA2) and prostacyclin (PGI2)-like materials into the venous effluent as verified by the responses of the specific assay organs. No detectable release of these substances was found in the venous outflow of LPS-injected intact kidney. In 10 human subjects plasma dopamine-beta-hydroxylase activity was found in the adrenal vein blood to be as high as in the periphery of the circulation. Adrenaline concentration in the adrenal vein blood was in the mean 170 times, noradrenaline concentration 11 times and dopamine concentration little higher than levels in the periphery.  相似文献

Proteolytic activity was detected outside dialysis bag filled with Bromelia hemisphaerica fruit juice. The dialysable protease was concentrated and purified from small molecular weight contaminants on Sephadex G-10 columns. Acrylamide gel electrophoresis of the dialysable protease, in the presence of SDS and 2-mercaptoethanol, demonstrated a single protein band of about 8000 daltons mol. wt. The same single band with identical mobility was shown with Hemisphaericin, the enzyme retained inside the dialysis bag. The small protease, named Hemisphaericin-D was antigenic in rabbits and the antibodies cross-reacted fully with Hemisphaericin. Hemisphaericin-D appears not to be a degradation product of Hemisphaericin.  相似文献

Naturally occurring polymers of N-acetylneuraminic acid (polysialic acids) are biodegradable, highly hydrophilic and have no known receptors in the body. Following intravenous injection, polysialic acids exhibit long half-lives in the blood circulation and have therefore been proposed as carriers of short-lived drugs and small peptides. In addition, shorter-chain polysialic acids can be used as a means to increase the circulatory half-life of proteins and thus serve as an alternative to the nonbiodegradable monomethoxypoly(ethylene glycol). Recent work has shown that covalent coupling of a low molecular weight polysialic acid (colominic acid) to catalase and asparaginase leads to a considerable increase of enzyme stability in the presence of proteolytic enzymes or blood plasma. Comparative studies in vivo with polysialylated and intact asparaginase revealed that polysialylation significantly increases the half-life of the enzyme. The highly hydrophilic and innocuous nature of polysialic acids renders them suitable as a means to prolong the circulation of peptides and proteins.  相似文献

The internal genitalia of female normal rabbits and mutant lysozyme-deficient rabbits, which lack genetically the leukocytic isozyme of lysozyme, were assayed for lysozyme activity. The ovaries, uteri, and vaginas of the lysozyme-deficient rabbits had less than 20% of the lysozyme activity of normals. The oviducts, and in particular the caudal portions of the oviducts, had lysozyme activities up to 71% of the levels in normals. These observations suggest that the lysozymes of oviduct and leukocytes of rabbits are under the control of different genes.  相似文献

Antibodies reacting with 3,5,3',5' tetraiodo-l-tyrosyl-l-tyrosine (I2Tyr-I2Tyr) were elicited in rabbits by immunization with an oxidized yeast conjugate coupled with I2Tyr-I2Tyr. Ion-exchange chromatography was used to purify immunoglobulins, in order to improve the specificity in measurement of I2Tyr-I2Tyr level in patient serum. IgG binding capacity versus I2Tyr-I2Tyr was considerably increased after immunoglobulin purification.  相似文献

Aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase (AHH) activity and epoxyde hydrase (EH) activity have been found in Rat liver nucleoli obtained from untreated (C) and methylcholanthrene (MC) pretreated Rats. Electron microscopic observations of nucleolar preparations did not reveal significant contamination either by intact nuclei or by nuclear membranes. Very low but detectable activity of NADPH cytochrome C reductase was found in the nucleoli. Nucleolar preparations revealed little AHH activity (12-18 pmoles/min/mg). AHH was inducible by MC in nuclei but not in nucleoli. The presence of EH in nucleoli was demonstrated with phenanthrene 9,10-oxide (550-620 pmoles/min/mg) and benzopyrene 4,5-oxide (92-116 pmoles/min/mg). These values were lower than those obtained using intact nuclei. The addition of TCPO (10(-4) M) inhibited EH activity.  相似文献

Summary In experiments with urethane-anesthetized rabbits, the alteration in the activity of posterior hypothalamic neurons resulting from intracerebroventricular injection of leucocyte pyrogen was attentuated by subsequent administration of arecoline. Atropine failed to alter the neuronal response to leucocyte pyrogen but abolished the effect of arecoline. The neuronal response to arecoline was reversed in the absence of leucocyte pyrogen.  相似文献

In rabbits with chronic renal insufficiency the prothrombin index was increased by 25% and the alanine aminotransferase activity decreased by 20%; the results of other routine tests of hepatic function were not affected. The galactose elimination capacity was decreased by 12%, whereas the body clearance of antipyrine was unchanged. No change in hepatocytic structure was found.  相似文献
