Summary Autoradiographic studies with3H aldosterone demonstrate nuclear concentration of hormone in neurons of the hippocampus, septum, allocortical regionss and brain stem reticular formation and motor nuclei of cranial nerves and in the meninges. The results suggest that mineralocorticoids have wide ranging effects on different parts of the central nervous system.This work was supported by the Medical Research Council of Canada and by PHS grant NS09914. Zusammenfassung Die histochemische Fluoreszenzmethode wird zum Studium der Nervenzellen des Gehirnstammes der Ratte angewandt. Die erhebliche Zunahme des Dopamins, hervorgerufen durch die Injektion eines peripher wirkenden Dekarboxylase-Hemmstoffes zusammen mitl-DOPA, wird im Gehirn verfolgt und gefunden, dass serotonergische Neuronen imstande sind, Catecholamine aufzunehmen.

Summary A new procedure which enables us to observe whole cultured cells autoradiographically by electron microscopy is described. By this method, only a relatively small amount of radioisotope and a relatively short exposure period are needed to get a large enough number of silver grains over the cell. The location of radioactive substances can be examined in relation to internal cell structures, especially the nucleus. 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Meerschweinchen wurden mit hitzeinaktiviertenS. typhi murium-Bakterien oral mit Sonde immunisiert. 16 Tage nach der Impfung wird diesen Tieren der Dünndarm entnommen, zerkleinert und im passiven, kutanen Anaphylaxie-Test (PCA) in unbehandelten Meerschweinchen und Ratten auf Antikörperbildung geprüft. Im Dünndarm von zwei Dritteln der oral geimpften Meerschweinchen wurden hochspezifische Reagine mit der PCA-Technik nachgewiesen.

Using the anaesthetic effects of the alcohols to measure their concentration within the cockroach central nervous system, it is shown that the lower homologues have access half-times of only a few seconds. Glutamine is important for the function of lymphocytes and macrophages. A role for the high rate of glutamine utilisation by these cells is presented. Since muscle syntheses, stores and releases glutamine, this tissue may play a role in the immune response. Since the number of immune cells utilising glutamine may be large, the demand for glutamine from muscle, especially during trauma sepsis or burns, may be very high. A speculative suggestion is put forward that this requirement for glutamine from muscle may play a role in cachexia under some of these conditions. 相似文献

Summary The simple nuclear body containing a few RNA particles appears through the nuclear pores in the cytoplasm, originating from the nucleolus. The complex nuclear body consisting mainly of RNA components is highly active in the incorporation of RNA precursors. Accordingly, the appearance of nuclear bodies may be related either to transport to the cytoplasm of nucleolar components or to the enhancement of rRNA synthesis. 相似文献

Summary A fluorescence histochemical investigation of the cardiac nerves ofEledone moschata has demonstrated that they contain catecholamines. This suggests that the cephalopod heart is supplied by a double innervation, where cholinergic and aminergic mechanisms work antagonistically. This is similar to the vertebrate cardiac innervation and therefore represents a convergent evolution. 相似文献

Summary Hexoprenaline potentiated the14C-aminopyrine uptake (a reliable index of H+ generation) of isolated rat gastric cells stimulated by 10–6–10–4 mol/l carbachol, and inhibited that in response to 10–4 mol/l histamine without and in the presence of propranolol. It is concluded that hexoprenaline acts as a partial agonist on parietal cell H2-receptors and that -adrenoceptor activation may functionally modualte gastric acid secretion.Acknowledgments. S.
