Riassunto Gli Autori hanno preso in esame, mediante il microscopio a contrasto di fase interferenziale, le modificazioni della superficie cellulare indotte dalla tossina alfa-stafilococcica in colture di cellule HEp-2. La tossina causa rapidamente collasso della membrana, seguito da rottura della membrana stessa. Vengono discussi i rapporti fra questi aspetti morfologici e le lesioni biochimiche indotte dalla tossina.     

Inhibition by cortisol of the favourable action of lysine-vasopressin on the growth of hela cell cultures

Résumé L'action stimulante de 25 µU/ml de lysinevasopressine de synthèse sur la croissance des cultures de cellules HeLa est inhibée par l'addition de 1 µg/ml de cortisol.     

A study of irrigation fluids for neurosurgery on brain primary cell cultures

Summary Primary cell cultures from newborn rat brain hemispheres were exposed to different irrigation fluids used in neurosurgery. The cells died after incubation for 5 min with hydrogen peroxide, and the number of cells was drastically decreased after 10 sec of incubation. They shrank after incubation in Elliott's artificial cerebrospinal fluid for 3 h, but the viability as determined by trypan blue exclusion test was not affected. Physiological sodium chloride, Ringer's solution and the culture medium 199 with Hank's salt had no noticeable effect on the viability or morphology of the cells.Acknowledgments. Studies on lysosomes in rat heart cell cultures. II. The effect of exogenous lysosomes

Zusammenfassung Isolierte Lysosomen wie auch intakte Monozyten hatten keinen zytopathischen Einfluss auf Herzmuskelzellen von Ratten, gezüchtet im Medium mit pH 7,2. Ein erniedrigtes Medium wie auch Nachbehandlungen der Kulturen mit Vitamin A nach Chlorpromazin 10^–4 konnten keinen synergistisch zerstörenden Einfluss auf die Herzkulturen hervorrufen.

Effects of carmine and carminic acid on embryonic tissue cell cultures

Summary The biological reaction to carmine and carminic acid at cellular level on in vitro cultures was tested and significant variables were controlled. Results suggested that proliferation and metabolism of these cultures were not affected by the 2 stains.

Riassunto è stata eseguita la coltura in vitro di frammenti di muscolo e di cute di un soggetto affetto da glicogenosi di tipo II.é stato osservato un accumulo di materiale PAS positivo, digeribile con la diastasi, nelle cellule derivate dal muscolo ma non in quelle derivate dalla cute.     

Inhibition of cell division in mammalian cell cultures by hypertonic medium

Résumé L'arrêt de la métaphase se produit dans les cellules de HeLa S-3 au contact d'un milieu de tonicité accrue (>165 mM). L'accumulation optimale intervient à 277 mM lorsque du NaCl a été utilisé pour augmenter l'influence du milieu. Les effets de l'usage d'autres sels et d'autres types de cellules sont décrits. La dilution du milieu à 165 mM donne lieu à un arrêt synchrone du processus de la mitose dans les cellules et assure la conservation d'un bon synchronisme au cours de la division cellulaire suivante.
