Die GattungenHumbertiella, Didymocorypha, Novo Genus der Gruppe Gonypetae vic.Cimantis-Eumantis, Parathespis, Creobroter, Empusa und die ArtDeiphobe brunneri zeigen im Geschlecht dasXO-System.Hierodula coarctata, Cheddikulama straminea undDeiphobe indica zeigen 2n=27 undX 1 X 2 Y.

C-banding and mithramycin staining were used to characterize the karyotypes of 10 specimens of the African reed frog Hyperolius viridiflavus ommatostictus from Tanzania. The diploid chromosome number is 2n = 24. Although no heteromorphic sex chromosomes were present in the mitotic karyotypes, in many diakineses of male meiosis one or two bivalents exhibited an end-to-end arrangement. In the laboratory 7 out of 24 females changed sex spontaneously. This indicates that an XY/XX system of sex determination operates in H. viridiflavus ommatostictus.  相似文献

Crosses between two classes of Drosophila melanogaster strains (reactive and inducer) may lead to partially sterile F1 females. This sterility, called S.F. sterility, can be characterized by its physiological features. It appears to be the result of an interaction between two factors: "R" brought into the initial croos by the reactive mother and "I" by chromosomes of the inducer father. Except for chromosome 4, each chromosome of the well known inducer strains may carry the I factor (inducer chromosomes). The present results provide evidence for the presence of an inducer fourth chromosome in the inducer strain Nagasaki.  相似文献

Summary The chromosome C-banding pattern has been studied in four lacertid species possessing the same karyotype. The results obtained show a remarkable interspecific variability both in the amount and distribution of C-banded heterochromatin. This leads us to the speculation that alleged conservativeness in their karyology is probably due to inadequate resolution by the conventional cytological techniques. Moreover, it has been hypothesized that these variations of the C-bands play an important role in the evolution of this saurian family.This research was supported by a grant from the Ministero Pubblica Istruzione.  相似文献

Summary The metaphase chromosomes ofChironomus th. thummi contain approximately 17% more pericentric C-band heterochromatin than the chromosomes ofChironomus th. piger with 11% heterochromatin. InCh. th. thummi, the proportion of heterochromatin appeared to be much larger in metaphase chromosomes than in polytene chromosomes. This discrepancy is interpreted as being due to the specific chromosome organization and not as the result of an underreplication of heterochromatin during polytenization.  相似文献

Summary C banded mouse pachytene chromosomes were studied with the light and electron microscopes by the whole mount technique. The X and Y chromosomes show pairing by the long, by the short or by both long and short arms. Assuming Lyon's hypothesis, the latter suggests that the Y segment transferred to the X is intercalar. Summary Wood frogs survive extracellular freezing at moderate subzero temperatures (–4°C) for at least 11 days. Freezing survival is aided by the accumulation of high concentrations of glucose as a cryoprotectant in blood and tissues. Glucose production was accompanied by a rapid decline in liver, but not muscle, glycogen levels suggesting that liver is the organ controlling cryoprotectant synthesis.Acknowledgments. Summary Pulmonary mechano-receptors have been found in the frog lung that are sensitive to CO2 concentrations in the lungs and airways comparable to the physiological levels recorded in frogs. These results support the suggestion that a pulmonary receptor with distinct mechano- and chemosensitive properties may represent the functional precursor of the more specialized pulmonary receptor types which have evolved in birds and mammals.Supported by grants from N.
