Women＇s image of nurturers is successfully portrayed in Sherwood Anderson＇s stories.Anderson places hopes on women for two reasons：Women retain nurturing impulses which benefit men,and with their tenderness,understanding and love they can comfort the frustrated,defeated men;Women are less defeated by modern life and with their wisdom and ability to deal with the realities of life,they may help men out of their impotence and frustration.This paper gives a detailed analysis of the female characters＇image of nurturers in these stories.

He received a BSc from University of the Philippines in 1977, an MSc from University of Akron （USA） in 1983, and a PhD from Washington University （USA） in 1987. On Ernest Hemingway＇s Views about Women

Emest Hermngway is famous for his ＂masculinity＂ style in his writing. Meanwhile, he also describes female characters and their strengths and reveals his own sensitivity to gender issues. His early exposure to women is from his upbringing dominatrix. His failure on marriage plays an important role on his works. In his mind, women are the combination of angel and evil. They act elegantly and attract men＇s heart, but sometimes they are changeable. Catherine Barkley is a typical angel except her suspect. Catherine Bourne is an evil though she is charming. Brett Ashley is attractive, but she can＇t love whom she loves. That is a society without choice. Women＇s feelings attach to men. They show their right to love, to change. Even to escape the cruel reality. At the same time they know they can＇ t cast the society. Hemingway pays more attention on women＇s feelings in his writing. On the one hand, he respects women＇s elegance, beauty and view on love. He wants to get love and care from them. On the other hand, he holds in awe on women. He assumes women are changeable, and is afraid of being hurt. Hemingway＇ s mind is full of conflicts, and his love, hatred, sympathy belong to not merely male, but also female. No matter she is angel or evil, he can＇t help himself and his readers falling in love with these women of extraordinary beauty.     

Poetic Features of William Golding＇s Novels

Though he is unmistakably a serious writer dealing with the most serious moral issues, William Golding has no dread of rhetoric. He is drown to rather than deterred by poetry and his fiction always has a dense and often poetic verbal texture, in which metaphor and image work as they do in poetry, and enrich and modify the bare significance of the moral form. Norway＇s Prime Minister Visiting Tsinghua University

Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg of Norway visited Tsinghua on March 27. Tsinghua President Gu Binglin welcomed Mr. Stoltenberg. The two exchanged ideas on climate change, energy saving, and environmental protection. Mr. Stoltenberg delivered a speech entitled ＂International Cooperation on Climate Change＂ in the Main Building Tsinghua Vice President Chen Jining hosted the speech.
