Isolation of a cytochrome of the antimycin a sensitive pathway for DPNH oxidation

Zusammenfassung Ein neues Cytochrom ist aus Schweineleber isoliert worden. Es wird durch DPNH-Cytochrom-c-Reduktase reduziert. Antimycin A hemmt diese Reaktion, die nur in Gegenwart des Slater-Faktors abläuft.Es ist wahrscheinlich, dass dieses Cytochrom in die Elektronentransportreihe, und zwar zwischen Reduktase und Cytochrom c, eingeschaltet ist.     

A new reaction in histochemistry: Structure and mechanism of formation of fluorescent compounds in the reaction of tryptamine and carboxyl substituted tetrahydro-β-carbolines with glyoxylic acid

Zusammenfassung Die Identifizierung und der Bildungsmechanismus des fluoreszierenden Produktes aus Glyoxylsäure und Tryptamin wird beschrieben. Eine intramolekulare säure-katalysierte Reaktion wird für die Bildung des fluoreszierenden Produktes vorgeschlagen.

Isolation of a hexaprenylhydroquinone sulfate from the marine sponge Dysidea sp. as an H,K-ATPase inhibitor

A hexaprenylhydroquinone sulfate has been isolated as an H,K-ATPase inhibitor from a marine sponge Dysidea sp. It also inhibited phospholipase A2 as well as secretion of gastric acid in rats.

Summary Direct evidence is provided for the transmembrane permeation of xanthomegnin across phospholipid bilayer mebranes using ascorbate-loaded liposomes. This process may be associated with an uncoupling effect on the oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria.

Zusammenfassung Das Studium der sich entwickelnden entzündlichen Reaktion auf mit attenuiertem und virulentem Poliovirus infizierten Affen zeigte, dass diese in der Pathogenese der Poliomyelitis eine defensive und eine aggressive Rolle spielt. Die erstere umfasst eine unspezifische, sekundäre Antwort auf die Nervenschädigung (Neuronophagie) und eine spezifische, primäre Reaktion auf das virale Antigen (lokale Immunreaktion). Die letztere ist vor allem dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass einige der mobilen entzündlichen Elemente das Poliovirus replizieren und weiter verbreiten können.     

A new,unexpected marine source of a molting hormone. Isolation of ecdysterone in large amounts from the zoanthidGerardia savaglia

Summary Ecdysterone was found in large amounts in the Mediterranean zoanthidGerardia savaglia both immediately after its collection and after it had been kept for 15 months in an aquarium. This is the first time that an ecdysteroid has been found in a marine animal which does not belong to the phylum Arthropoda.Acknowledgments. We are grateful to Dr E.
