Electrical Power Assisted Steering for EVs and HEVs

Electrical power assisted steering (EPAS) is one of the key components, especially for electrical vehicle. It has attracted much attention for their advantages with respect to improved fuel economy and has been widely adopted as automotive power-steering equipment in recent years. EPS (electrical power steering) controllers contain MCU (microprocessor control unit) to implement the complex control algorithms. EPS control strategy development is the core technology of the whole system. To achieve the better performance of driving, both mechanical structures and electrical structures are totally designed as a whole. Model-based development is recommended to software design. There are several trends about EPS’ future, such as high power EPS development, high voltage EPS development and steering-by-wire technology.

Power consumption and mixing in a miniaturised bioreactor

Microbial fermentation plays an important role in digesting renewable biomass, in particular lignocellulose to generate new sources of chemical raw material and energy. The increasing number of genetic and process permutations during screening for process optimizations drives a strong demand for obtaining accurate biological and process data in short time frames and at low cost. A novel miniaturised bioreactor with a working volume of 7 mL was fabricated to meet the requirements of fermentation process development. The engineering parameters including power consumption and mixing time were characterised and compared with those in a 7 L bioreactor with two standard Rushton impellers. Computational results in the 7 L bioreactor were in good agreement with the literature and this approach was applied to this miniaturised bioreactor. Power number for the impellers used in the miniaturised reactor was found to vary with the detailed impeller geometrical characteristics, including the blade width, length and thickness. Mixing time in this miniaturised bioreactor was calculated to be around 0.2 s, shorter than the time required for metabolic regulations for some cells. This miniaturised bioreactor could dramatically change the fermentation process development.

Centralized Role-Based Access Control for Federated Multi-Domain Environments

The secure interaction among multiple security domains is a major concern. In this paper, we highlight the issues of secure interoperability among multiple security domains operating under the widely accepted Role Based Access Control （RBAC） model. We propose a model called CRBAC that easily establishes a global policy for roles mapping among multiple security domains. Our model is based on an extension of the RBAC model. Also, multiple security domains were composed to one abstract security domain. Also roles in the multiple domains are translated to permissions of roles in the abstract security domain. These permissions keep theirs hierarchies. The roles in the abstract security domain implement roles mapping among the multiple security domains. Then, authorized users of any security domain can transparently access resources in the multiple domains.

On-Line Partial Discharge Monitoring and Diagnostic System for Power Transformer

This paper introduces a computerized on-line partial discharge （PD） monitoring and diagnostic system for transformers. The system, which is already in use in a power station, uses wide-band active transducers and a data acquisition unit with modularized and exchangeable components. The system software is a power equipment monitoring and diagnostic system, which is based on the component object model, and was developed for monitoring multiple parameters in multiple power supply systems. The statistical characteristics of PDs in power transformers were studied using 7 experimental models for simulating PDs in transformers and 3 models for simulating interfering discharges in air. The discharge features were analyzed using a 3-D pattern chart with a three-layer back-propagation artificial neural network used to recognize the patterns. The results show that PDs in air and oil can be distinguished. The model can be used for interference rejection on-line monitoring of partial discharge in transformers.

Comparison of Earnings Power between State Commercial Banks and Stock Banks

As earnings power is one of the primary capacities for commercial banks, by analyzing several indexes on banks‘o peration performance, this article compared the earnings power between the state banks and the stock banks in China. Through the analysis, some problems of domestic banks may be found and pointed out that the commercial bank should stress on the target of profit maximum to avoid the domancial risks. With enough earnings power,the domestic banks can take the challenge with those foreign banks entering domestic money market.
