Summary Intensain causes in vitro a significant and apparently competitive inhibition of phosphodiesterase, which transforms the 3,5-AMP to 5-AMP. These results explain some intensain effects, especially the period of latency to reach the maximum effect, the inotropic action and its reaction under the influence of-blocking and-stimulating agents^10–13.

Summary The migration of leucocytes from the buffy coat of chicken blood is slightly but irregulatly inhibited by cortison. If migration of leucocytes is increased by proteus lipopolysaccharide, cortison in concentrations of 10^–4–10^–6, and other anti-inflammatory steroids, produce a pronounced and constant inhibition of leucocytic migration.

Summary Inhibition of glycine synthesis by aminopterine, an antagonist of pteroilglutaminic acid, causes rigidity of hind limbs in rats. This rigidity can be abolished by the injection of glycine.     

Die Hemmung von Enzymen der Inneren Mitochondrienmembran durch Benzbromaron

Summary The uricosuric drug benzbromarone inhibits a number of membrane-bound mitochondrial enzymes. A strong inhibition of succinate dehydrogenase, -glycerophosphate dehydrogenase and pyridinnucleotide transhydrogenase was found (approximately 28, 48, 45 M benzbromarone for 50% inhibition respectively). Some possible consequences of these results for the lipid metabolism in patients during benzbromarone are discussed.

Summary A hexane extract of bovine pineal glands reduced the production of 11-OH-corticosteroids and augmented the formation of 11-desoxycorticosteroids in slices of bovine adrenal cortex. It is suggested, therefore, that bovine pineal glands contain one or several substances which inhibit the 11-hydroxylation of corticosteroids.

Summary In the female rat, testosterone propionate-induced proliferation of the epidermis (acanthosis and mitotic activation) is inhibited in proportion to dosage by a phenanthrene derivative with antiandrogenic action.     

Peroxidase-Isoenzyme in Kressekeimlingen (Lepidium sativum L.) und ihre Hemmung durch Silybin,Silydianin und Silychristin

Summary Seedlings ofLepidium sativum L. contain 4 peroxidase isoenzymes. Their de-novo-synthesis is significantly depressed in the presence of 3·10^–3 moles/l silybin, silydianin and silychristin in the incubation medium respectively.     

Die Hemmbarkeit der inhibitorischen Adrenalinbzw. Noradrenalinwirkung durch Adrenolytika

Summary Dibenamine, dihydroergotamine, regitin and priscol were found to antagonize specifically the inhibitory action of adrenaline and noradrenaline on the electrically stimulated isolated ileum of the guinea-pig. The antagonistic action of dibenamine was irreversible.     

Die Verstärkung der pressorischen Vasopressin-Reaktion durch 2-Mercaptoäthylguanidin bei der Ratte

Summary 2-mercaptoethylguanidin enhances the blood pressure responses to small doses of vasopressine in the rat. This potentiation is statistically significant. The increase of the vasopressine reaction after 2-mercaptoethylguanidin is not due to an indirect effect of vasopressine on the cardiovascular system.

Summary The activities of-xylosidase,-xylanase and inulinase were demonstrated only in the tissues of the larval intestinal canal which also split galactose and arabinose from certain hemicelluloses and-galactan. Several other carbohydrases originating from microorganisms were also detected only in the content of the larval alimentary tract.

Summary With a simple test — inhibition of the Mg-activated ATPase in a total homogenate of muscle by azide — it is possible to distinguish clearly between red and white muscle fibres. A number of muscles of the pelvic and thigh region of the rat are investigated by this method.

Summary Comparative investigations were carried out in rats to determine the effect of butylbiguanide and of insulin on the oxidation of uniform¹⁴C-labelled glucose. The administration of equally hypoglycaemic active doses of butylbiguanide (250 mg per kg orally) or of insulin (2 IU s.c.), together with 0.1 µC¹⁴C-glucose, caused similar increases in the elimination rate of¹⁴CO₂.
