Zusammenfassung Durch experimentellen Hunger (48 bis 72 h) kommt es bei Ratten zu einer RNS-Minderung im mesentherialen, epididymalen und retroperitonealen Fettgewebe. Normale Fütterung oder Adaptation an beschränkte Fütterungsdauer (2 h pro Tag) führen zu einer Erhöhung des RNS-Gehaltes über die Normalwerte.     

Alkylation of double-stranded ribonucleic acid with 2-chloroethylamines

Zusammenfassung Nachweis der Alkylierung doppelfädiger RNS mittels 2-Chloräthylaminen in wässeriger Lösung ohne gleichzeitige Hydrolyse der Phosphatesterbindungen zwischen den Nukleotiden, was in starkem Gegensatz zu früheren, bei einfädigen RNS gewonnenen Ergebnissen steht.     

The metabolism of the male antifertility agent 1-amino-3-chloropropan-2-ol in the rat

Summary The male antifertility agent 1-amino-3-chloropropan-2-ol (ACP,I) has been shown to be metabolized to-chlorohydrin (III) and metabolites of-chlorohydrin. This accounts for the similar antifertility and renal toxicity effects of both compounds.     

Effects of chronic lesions of the peduncles on cerebellum cholinesterase activity,in the albino rat

Riassunto Lesioni unilaterali nell'ambito dei peduncoli cerebellari sono seguite, nel ratto, da una caduta dell'attività colinesterasica vera del cervelletto, che raggiunge i valori massimi del 60% nella metà ipsilaterale e del 40% in quella controlaterale nel caso di sezione totale dei tre peduncoli. In nessun caso l'attività della pseudo-colinesterasi è risultata significativamente modificata.     

Effects of the optical isomers of 2-amino-3-fluoro-1-phenylpropane (monofluoroamphetamine) hydrochloride on uptake and release of dopamine in rat striatum in vitro

Summary The (+)- and (–)-isomers of the monofluorinated amphetamine 2-amino-3-fluoro-1-phenylpropane were prepared and compared for their ability to stimulate release and to inhibit reuptake of radiolabelled dopamine from rat striatal tissue in vitro. Differential distribution of TASK-1, TASK-2 and TASK-3 immunoreactivities in the rat and human cerebellum

In this work, the distributions of some acid-sensitive two-pore-domain K⁺ channels (TASK-1, TASK-2 and TASK-3) were investigated in the rat and human cerebellum. Astrocytes situated in rat cerebellar tissue sections were positive for TASK-2 channels. Purkinje cells were strongly stained and granule cells and astrocytes were moderately positive for TASK-3. Astrocytes isolated from the hippocampus, cerebellum and cochlear nucleus expressed TASK channels in a primary tissue culture. Our results suggest that TASK channel expression may be significant in the endoplasmic reticulum of the astrocytes. The human cerebellum showed weak TASK-2 immunolabelling. The pia mater, astrocytes, Purkinje and granule cells demonstrated strong TASK-1 and TASK-3 positivities. The TASK-3 labelling was stronger in general, but it was particularly intense in the Purkinje cells and pia mater.Received 25 February 2004; received after revision 19 April 2004; accepted 28 April 2004

Effect of Mg++ on the reactivity of ribonucleic acid

Zusammenfassung Die Nukleinsäure des Tabakmosaikvirus kann in zwei Formen vorliegen. In salzfreiem Milieu sind sämtliche Aminogruppen frei und reagieren mit Formaldehyd, während in Gegenwart von Mg⁺⁺ nur etwa 35% reaktionsfähig bleiben. Diese Veränderung, die parallel mit dem hypochromen Effekt einhergeht, deutet darauf hin, dass unter dem Einfluss von Mg⁺⁺ die Basen gegenseitige Beziehungen eingehen und dadurch dem Molekül eine geordnete räumliche Konfiguration geben.

The effect of corticotrophine on free fatty acid content in rat adrenal

Zusammenfassung Es wurde die Wirkung von ACTH auf den Gehalt unveresterter Fettsäuren in Rattennebennieren verfolgt. Nach Injektion von 2 IE ACTH per 100 g Körpergewicht (1, 2, 6 und 12 h post inj.) findet in der Nebennierenrinde keine Abnahme an freien Fettsäuren statt.     

Cilia in stellate neurons of the rat cerebellum

Summary Cilia in stellate neurons of the normal rat cerebellum are described. 8 cilia were observed in a total of 60 cells studied. An 8+1 pattern was found throughout their length. Furthermore, no arms, spokes or other accessory structures necessary for ciliary motion were seen. These findings make it possible to suggest that these cilia are probably without function and are related to the epithelial origin of these cells.This work was granted by INIC: Centro de Morfologia Experimental (MbP₁).Acknowledgments. Zusammenfassung Bei Ratten wurde der Gehalt an Desoxyribonukleinsäure und Ribonukleinsäure von der Geburt bis zum 29. Lebenstag verfolgt. Mit Beginn des Sehens erhöht sich der gesamte Nukleinsäuregehalt des Organismus; vorübergehend zeigt sich auch ein prozentualer Anstieg. Diese Erhöhung des Nukleinsäuregehaltes wird als Folge der vermehrten Sekretion der durch den Lichtreiz stimulierten Hypophyse erklärt.     

On the incorporation of uridilate into cerebrocortex ribonucleic acid

Riassunto Una frazione subcellulare preparata dalla corteccia cerebrale del vitello è capace di catalizzare l'incorporazione di uridilato nell'acido ribonucleico (RNA) quando UTP è usato come precursore. L'acido ribonucleico sintetizzato risulta costituito per il 75% di residui uridilici di cui soltanto il 29% risulta terminale.

Effects of midline cerebellar splitting and of lesions in cerebral cortex on cerebellum cholinesterase activity,in the albino rat

Riassunto La divisione sagittale mediana del cervelletto è seguita, nel ratto, da una eguale diminuzione della attività colinesterasica vera nelle due metà del cervelletto, che raggiunge, nei casi di divisione completa, valori che si avvicinano a quelli osservati nella metà controlaterale per sezione totale, unilaterale, dei peduncoli.Lesioni della corteccia cerebrale, anche se estese, non modificano l'attività colinesterasica vera del cervelletto.In nessun caso vennero osservate modificazioni dell'attività pseudocolinesterasica.     

Neurochemical correlates of alloxan diabetes: Protein and ribonucleic acid levels in the different regions of the rat brain

Summary The levels of protein and ribonucleic acid in the cerebrum, cerebellum, optic lobes and medulla oblongata of normal and alloxan-diabetic rats were measured. In general, the protein content and levels of ribonucleic acid in the broad compartments of the brain of rat decreased during diabetes.Acknowledgment. The authors thank Dr.A. R. Effects of alloxan on orotic acid and glycogen content in various vertebrate species

Summary Alloxan treatment induces a decrease of orotic acid content in various organs of carp, frog, pigeon and rat, parallel to a decrease of liver and muscle glycogen content. Loss of orotic acid and glycogen cannot be prevented by orotic acid and carbamyl phosphate given i.p. Mice, rats and pigeons use up and excrete exogenous orotic acid rapidly, but carps and frogs accumulate it.     

Effects of selective dopamine D1 and D2 antagonists on male rat sexual behavior

The effects of selective dopamine (DA) D1 and D2 antagonists on male rat sexual behavior were investigated. The D1 antagonist (+)SCH-23390, 25-100 micrograms kg-1 s.c. -20 min, and the D2 antagonist raclopride, 0.1-1.6 mg kg-1 s.c., -20 min, decreased both the number of mounts and intromissions preceding ejaculation. No statistically significant effects in the time up to ejaculation or in the time up to the first intromission were noted, whereas both compounds produced a statistically significant increase in the post-ejaculatory interval. The effect can generally be characterized as psychomotor inhibition, and no evidence was obtained for a specific role of DA D1 or D2 receptors in the mediation of male rat sexual behavior.
