Habituation to iterative photostimulation in the palmar skin conductance response of mice,its delay by psychoanaleptics

Summary In mice, iterative photostimulation results in habituation, detected in the palmar skin conductance response. Psychoanaleptics delay this habituation in proportion to the dose administered.     

Habituation failure of skin conductance response after intraventricular administration of 6-hydroxydopamine in cats

The effects of intraventricular administration of 6-hydroxydopamine on electrodermal activity were studied in cats. The treatment slowed down or eliminated habituation of the skin conductance response to repeated auditory stimuli. However, the impairment of habituation was not accompanied by an increase in the rate of spontaneous skin conductance fluctuation.

Inhibition of galvanic skin response by the splanchnic afferent

Zusammenfassung Der hemmende Einfluss wiederholter elektrischer Reizung der Afferenzen des N. splanchnicus auf den galvanischen Hautreflex (GHR) wurde an Katzen untersucht. Gleichzeitige Registrierung des Neurogrammes des N. splanchnicus zeigt, dass die reflektorische Hemmung des GHR durch Fasern der A - Gruppe hervorgerufen wird.     

Mast cells,co-carcinogenesis and anti-carcinogenesis in the skin of mice

Zusammenfassung Wenn auf der Haut der Maus eine Karzinogenese mit minimalen Dosen eines reinen Initiators und eines reinen Promoters (Co-karzinogen) induziert wird, tritt eine Mastzellreaktion auf. Diese Reaktion erreicht ein Maximum unter den Papillomen. Sie kann durch Applikation eines Antikarzinogens verhindert werden.     

Prolongation of the survival of skin grafts in mice by PUVA treatment

Summary The combined application of psoralen and UVA radiation to skin grafts induced a prolongation of the survival time of the grafts in mice. This was observed using the H-Y barrier, an allogeneic barrier without H-2 disparities, and a strong H-2 incompatible barrier. The effect is probably due to a reduction of antigen-presenting cells, or to other, unknown mechanisms.

Mast cells in the skin of normal,hairless and athymic mice

Summary The skin of congenitally athymicnu/nu mice is rich in mast cells which stain metachromatically, contain histamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine, and participate in the PCA reaction. Proopiomelanocortin expression in the skin during induced hair growth in mice.

We demonstrate for the first time a hair cycle-dependent gene and protein expression of proopiomelanocortin in mouse skin in vivo. Northern blot detected POMC mRNA with an apparent size of 0.9 kb in anagen but not telogen skin. Western blot emphasized a specific protein of 30-33 kDa recognized by anti beta-endorphin in late but not early anagen or telogen skin. By immunocytochemistry, beta-endorphin antigen was localized in the sebaceous gland in a hair cycle dependent manner.     

Stimulation of immune response by polymannuronic-guluronic acid in mice

Zusammenfassung Bei Mäusen, die mit suboptimalen Antigendosen geimpft wurden, erhöhte Polymannuron-Guluronsäure (Alginsäure) die Anzahl der 19S-antikörperbildenden Zellen in der Milz bis auf das 44-fache.     

Induction of malignant skin tumors in mice by topical application of ethylnitrosourea

Summary A high percentage of squamous cell carcinomas were induced in the skin of Swiss-Webster mice by repeated topical application of ethylnitrosourea, indicating that this nitrosamide possesses a potent carcinogenic action when topically applied.Acknowledgments. Strain influence on the immune response of mice to the friend virus

Induction of aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase in the lungs of mice in response to cigarette smoke

Résumé L'absorption, par inhalation, de la fumée de cigarette, produit une accélération rapide de l'activité de l'aryl hydrocarbure hydroxylase dans les poumons de la souris. Après une exposition de 4 semaines, ces niveaux sont 3–4 fois plus élevés que ceux du contrôle. Dans le foie, ces actions se manifestent d'une facon beaucoup plus faible et lente.
