Glycoprotein biosynthesis in splenic cells. Purification of a microsomal galactosyl-transferase

Summary One part of the microsomal galactosyl-transferase activity of splenic cells of rats can by solubilized by the action of Triton X-100 and Tween 20. The effects of heat on the interactions between leucyl-tRNA synthetases and tRNA's

Résumé La chaleur affecte considérablement l'activité acceptrice d'acide aminé des tRNA à des températures auxquelles leur structure spatiale est très peu modifiée. L'utilisation d'un enzyme thermostable permet de suggérer que la perte d'activité biologique des tRNA est liée à de minimes modifications de leur structure spatiale.

Effect of sodium citrate on the translocation of bacterial DNA inSolanum lycopersicum esc.

Résumé L'effet du citrate de sodium sur la translation d'ADN d'origine bactérienne chez la tomate a été étudié biochimiquement et par autoradiographie. Les plantes prétraitées au citrate prennent plus d'ADN étranger que les plantes témoins. En revanche le citrate n'a pas d'effet sur la dépolymérisation du DNA pris par la plante. Les relations entre ces phénomènes et les différents modes possibles de pénétration du DNA étranger sont examinés.

Effect of temperature on the translocation of bacterial DNA inSolanum lycopersicum esc

Résumé Nous avons étudié l'influence de différentes températures sur la translation de l'ADN d'origine bactérienne chez les plantules de tomate. La température n'a aucune influence en elle-même. Néanmoins des variations de température diminuent la dépolymérisation de l'ADN étranger migré dans la plante.

(Z,E)-α-farnesene,main constitutent of the hypertrophied Dufour's gland of the major workers ofPheidole pallidula (Formicidae)

Summary In the European dimorphic ant,Pheidole pallidula, the Dufour's gland of the major workers is hypertrophied and secretes nearly pure (Z, E)--farnesene. This compound is also present in the Dufour's gland of the minor workers but constitutes only around 10% of the volatiles. Visual stimulus localization as a function of brightness

Résumé Dans une tâche consistant à localiser un point sur une barre horizontale ou verticale, on mesure l'information transmise en fonction de l'éclairement et de l'information du stimulus. On trouve une relation linéaire directe entre l'information transmise et le logarithme de l'éclairement. Cette relation reste valable pour diverses quantités d'information émise.

Mitigation of graft-versus-host disease in rats treated with allogeneic and xenogeneic antilymphocytic sera

Summary The survival of rats receiving a sublethal dose of CY and grafted with allogeneic bone marrow, was prolonged by treatment with either allogeneic or xenogeneic anti-lymphocytic sera. These seem to prevent a fatal GVHD while allowing a temporary take of the graft.This work was supported by Grant No. FOR 007. Summary Preceding the infolding of the cross wall separating pseudoconidial units in the aschizogenous, amyc mutant ofNeurospora crassa is the development of an electron-dense ring seen in section as 2 spots on opposite sides of the cell wall. Vesiculated elements of the endoplasmic reticulum are seen in close proximity to the centripetally progressing edge of the interconidial septum.

Effet de l'ablation partielle ou totale du tissu rénal sur l'hypertension rénovasculaire chez le rat

Summary Arterial hypertension, elicited in the rat by partial renal artery constriction, appears faster and affects more animals when the controlateral kidney is removed simultaneously. Excision of the ischemic kidney after hypertension of 1 to 3 weeks duration is not followed by any fall of blood pressure during the first 24 h. If the arterial constriction is not accompanied by controlateral nephrectomy, hypertension disappears after removal of the ischemic kidney, diminishes after bilateral nephrectomy and is increased by excision of the un-touched kidney.

Altered composition of bilirubin conjugates in rat bile after obstruction of the common bile duct

Abnormal limbs (abl), a recessive mutation affecting the tadpoles ofXenopus l. laevis

Summary Abnormal limbs (abl) is a recessive and semi-lethal mutation introduced by a from the laboratory stock. Brachymely, syndactyly, polydactyly and brachydactyly are the main abnormalities encountered. They occur more frequently in the forelimbs than in the hindlimbs.Acknowledgment. Independent responses of two fruit characters to developmental regulation inMicroseris douglasii (Asteraceae,Lactuceae)

Summary The hairy achenes and yellow achenes characters are expressed only in peripheral fruits onMicroseris capitula. Seasonal changes in the electrical parameters of the small intestine,colon and bladder mucosa of land tortoises (Testudo hermanni hermanni Gmelin)

Summary During hibernation of tortoises, a marked decrease in the short-circuit current together with an increase in the electrical resistance are observed across the small intestine, colon and bladder mucosa and D-aldosterone (which is decreased in the plasma) has no effect on these parameters.Acknowledgments. Repopulation of thymus,spleen and bone-marrow of irradiated AKR mice injected with normal or irradiated bone-marrow cells

Résumé L'utilisation d'une race de souris (AKR/T1Ald) ne possédant que 38 chromosomes a permis de montrer que les cellules de moelle que l'on injecte à un individu irradié repeuplent directement la moelle, le thymus et la rate du receveur. Si le donneur est irradié, la pénétration des cellules n'est importante que dans la rate du receveur.
