Hypersensitivity to endotoxin hepatotoxicity in rats with inflammatory lesions

The ratio of sinusoidal nonparenchymal cells to hepatocytes in rat liver was significantly increased following induction of inflammation, and decreased after subsequent exposure to endotoxin, particularly in the region around the terminal portal venules. Rats with inflammatory lesions were more sensitive to endotoxin hepatocytotoxicity than normal controls, as judged from the dose-dependent increase in activity of serum transaminases and from the extent of liver tissue injury. In addition, these animals, which were already in a state of depletion of hepatic glycogen, demonstrated marked hyperglycemia 24 h after endotoxin administration in small doses of less than 2 mg/kg.     

Parenteral soya bean fat emulsions potentiate the hepatotoxicity ofE. coli endotoxin in suckling rats

Summary A dose of soy bean fat emulsion which was injected i.v. in suckling rats accumulated in the cells of liver parenchyma, both in hepatocytes and in reticuloendothelial cells. Subsequent i.p. injection ofE. coli endotoxin was followed by extensive liver tissue necrosis and increased activities of serum aspartic and alanine aminotransferase. These signs of liver damage were markedly more pronounced than those observed after the administration ofE. coli endotoxin only.

Aflatoxin B1 hepatotoxicity in rats pretreated with ethanol

Summary Ethanol pretreatment has the potentiation of the aflatoxin B₁-induced hepatotoxicity was indicated by an increase in the activities of plasma GPT, plasma GOT and in the severity of liver necrosis. The effect of ethanol pretreatment on an increase in the accumulation of liver triglycerides is additive in nature.     

Food intake patterns from weaning to adulthood in male and female rats with hypothalamic lesions

Zusammenfassung Änderungen in der Futteraufnahme von Ratten mit hypothalamischen Läsionen sind nicht nur vom Locus, sondern auch vom Geschlecht und dem Alter abhängig, in welchem sie beigebracht wurden. Pubertät scheint eine Zeit zu sein, in welcher Änderungen in der Futteraufnahme eintreten. Läsionen im hinteren Hypothalamus, die bisher nicht als hyperphagisch bekannt waren, wenn sie in erwachsenen Ratten plaziert wurden, verursachten Hyperphagie in beiden Geschlechtern, wenn die Operation kurz nach Ablaktation durchgeführt wurde.

Sex and age differences in hyperthermia response to ether anesthesia in weanling rats with ventromedial hypothalamic lesions

Zusammenfassung Entwöhnte junge weibliche Ratten mit ventromedialen hypothalamischen Läsionen zeigten keine Hyperthermie, wie sie bei geschlechtsreifen weiblichen Ratten bei Äthernarkose beobachtet wird. In männlichen entwöhnten, jungen Ratten mit Läsionen war jedoch eine signifikante Hyperthermie nachweisbar, welche in beiden Geschlechtern von der Futtermenge und dem Ausmass der hypothalamischen Fettsucht unabhängig war. Läsionen im ventromedialen Hypothalamus der weiblichen jungen Ratte scheinen einen zentralen Mechanismus zu beeinflussen, welcher es ihnen nicht ermöglicht, auf Äthernarkose mit Hyperthermie zu reagieren.

Shortened duration of drug-induced behavioral excitation in rats with septal lesions

Resumen En las ratas, la reacción elevada de la respuesta evasiva, después de darles iproniazida y tetrabenazina aparentemente está relacionada con el suelto acrecentado de acetylcholina en al parte frontal del cerebro. Cuando las ratas con lesiones septales recibieron estas dos drogas, sus periódos resultantes de excitacion de conducta eran significantamente mas cortos que los de los controles. Como las lesiones septales producen disminución en los niveles de la acetylcholina en el cerebro, estos datos implicaron más el sistema cholinergica en la excitación producida por la iproniziada-tetrabenazina.     

The response of male and female rats with hypothalamic lesions to low and high environmental temperatures

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass normale weibliche Ratten weniger kälteresistent sind als gleichaltrige männliche Ratten desselben Stammes. Dies gilt auch für weibliche Tiere mit elektrolytischen Läsionen in verschiedenen Loci des Hypothalamus. Am 25. Tag in den Nuclei supraoptici lädierte Ratten zeigen eine ausgeprägte Unfähigkeit, Hitze zu ertragen. Dies steht in Übereinstimmung mit der gegenwärtigen Auffassung, dass der vordere Hypothalamus bei der Beseitigung der Überhitzung eine Rolle spielt.

参附动员内皮祖细胞改善肝移植大鼠缺血再灌注损伤

目的 观察参附注射液对发生肝移植缺血再灌注损伤(IRI)的大鼠外周血中内源性内皮祖细胞(EPCs)的作用以及此作用对其肝脏功能的影响.方法 100只雌性SD大鼠随机分为3组:原位肝移植(0LT)+参附(SF)组,OLT对照组,假手术组.3组均于术后第1、4、7天取血液标本流式细胞术检测外周血内皮祖细胞数量及生化分析仪检测肝功能,观察胆汁分泌量,并取肝组织标本进行HE染色形态学观察肝脏损伤.结果 OLT+ SF组外周血中的EPCs在术后1天开始增加,第4天达到高峰并持续至第7天;并且在3个时间点上,OLT+ SF组的外周血EPCs数量较其它两组明显增加,具有统计学意义(p ＜0.01);OLT+ SF组在用药后IRI有所改善,较对照组有统计学差异(p＜0.05).结论 参附注射液能显著动员大鼠骨髓中的内源性EPCs进入外周血,修复损伤的肝血窦,改善微循环,进而改善肝移植术后的缺血再灌注损伤.     

The effect of chlorpromazine on the adrenal gland in rats with brain stem lesions

Resumen Lesiones de la formación reticulada mesencefálica (FRM) provocan una caída significativa del ácido ascórbico supprarrenal (AAS). La clorpromazine (CPZ) provoca un aumento significativo del AAS. La administración de CPZ a ratas con lesión en FRM es incapaz de restablecer los niveles de AAS.     

Eating and drinking induced by cerebral-ventricular injections in rats with lesions in the lateral hypothalamus

Résumé Par des lésions bilatérales hypothalamiques on a rendu des rats aphagiques et adipsiques. Durant la période de convalescence, on a injecté dans le ventricule latéral du pentotal de sodium (ce qui normalement fait manger les animaux) et une solution saline hypertonique (qui normalement les fait boire). On a trouvé qu'après les lésions les rats ne réagissent que lorsqu'ils sont redevenus capables de manger et de boire spontanément.

Antagonism by thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) of pentobarbital-induced hypothermia in rats with brain lesions

Summary Anesthesia with a large dose of pentobarbital (55 mg/kg, i.p.) caused a sustained decrease in brain temperature (Tb), which was monitored with a probe placed in the midbrain reticular formation. The administration of TRH to the lateral ventricle antagonized this hypothermia. None of the acute surgeries examined in this paper (adrenal-demedullectomy, septal knife cuts, electrolytic lesions of the hypothalamus and midbrain knife cuts) had any essential effect on this antagonism by TRH. These results suggest that centrally-administered TRH exerts its effect on thermoregulation, at least in part, through brain structure(s) caudal to the midbrain.     

Development of hyperphagia in female rats with ventromedial hypothalamic lesions placed at four different ages

Zusammenfassung Ventromedial-hypothalamische Läsionen führen bei nicht mehr säugenden weiblichen Ratten zu temporärer Hypophagie, bei älteren Tieren zu Hyperphagie. In den folgenden Wochen wird eine autonome Stabilität und normale Futteraufnahme wieder erreicht. Bezogen auf das Körpergewicht assen die nicht mehr säugenden Ratten weniger als gleich alte Kontrolltiere, mehr jedoch als ältere lädierte Ratten.
