Summary The pars tuberalis of the hypophysis was shown to contain LH, which increases after castration, TSH and a very low amount of PRL. Summary The biological efficiency of a high purified A-homo-testosterone-acetate was tested on male mice. Summary Total castration increases the weight, delays oviposition and reduces the functioning of the genital organs but partial gonadectomy has no effect. Summary Male dormice were castrated at 2 phases of their infradian body weight cycles. No consistent changes were found in cycle period, amplitude, or absolute weights of the dormice following castration. Unlike other mammals, body weights of dormice appear unaffected by castration. Although both body weight and reproductive condition vary on an infradian basis, the changes in body weight appear to be programmed independently from changes in gonadal function.Acknowledgments. The lumenal surface coat of the rat oviducts and uterine horns have been histochemically characterized at prepuberty, estrous cycle, castration, hormone replacement and pseudopregnancy. Summary By autoradiographic studies with H3-thymidine it is demonstrated that the percentage of labelled nuclei is very low in the anterior pituitary of normal untreated rats and of rats 14 days after thyreoidectomy. Following castration, however, a marked increase of DNA-synthesizing cells occurs as well as an increase of mitotic figures.

A shift in the induction time of unresponsiveness in males toward the female type was brought about by castration, but could be reverted to the male type by the application of testosterone. The transfer study revealed that cells capable of preventing arthritis required a longer incubation time for their development in males than in females. Résumé L'-MSH stimule la croissance des glandes préputiales de la rate intacte, cet effet est moins marqué après l'ablation des ovaires et s'atténue encore après castration et surrénalectomie ou castration et hypophysectomie. Chez l'animal castré, en doses liminaires, la progestérone accroÎt considérablement la stimulation produite par l'-MSH tandis que la testostérone exerce un effet comparable mais moins accentué. Summary The serum alkaline and acid phosphatases were examined in male rats between the ages of 20 and 300 days, using the method ofHuggins andTalalay 4. The activities of acid and alkaline phosphatases increase significantly to the age of 45 days, followed by a highly significant decrease up to 120th day for alkaline and to 75th day for acid phosphatase. After castration, highly significant increases in the acid, but no changes in the alkaline serum phosphatase were observed.  相似文献

Summary Treatment of orchidectomized rats with LH, FSH or prolactin decreased the tubulin content of the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH), whereas FSH or prolactin augmented it in the adenohypophysis (AH). After castration, negative correlations existed between serum LH and total or polymerized MBH tubulin, whereas in the AH positive correlations were found.
