Laktationshemmende Wirkung von N-[d-6-Methyl-8-isoergolin-I-yl]-N′, N′-diäthylharnstoff (VÚFB-6638)

Summary The inhibiting effect of orally administered N-[d-6-methyl-8-isoergolin-I-yl], N, N-diethylurea (VÚFB-6638) on the production of milk was found in rats. The inhibition of lactation was ascertained through the observation of the daily weightgains of the suckled puppies (ED₅₀=0.112 mg/kg/day) and through the observation of the presence of milk in the stomach of these puppies, as seen through their abdomen wall (0.084 mg/kg/day). This inhibition could be abolished with exogenous prolactin, which gives evidence that the drug studied acts via the endocrine system.

The “day of Brahman” in the work of Āryabhata

Summary In the astronomical treatise ryabhatya of ryabhata several verses are interpolated, namely all those verses in which either Brahman was mentioned or extremely large periods were introduced. The interpolator was known to AlBrn as ryabhata of Kusumapura, who belongs to the school of the elder ryabhata. The aim of the interpolator was to bring the teaching of the elder ryabhata into accordance with the revelation of Svayambh. Svayambh is another name for Brahm.     

7α-hydroxylation of dehydroepiandrosterone in human testis and epididymis in vitro

Zusammenfassung Zerhackte menschliche Hoden und Epididymis wurden mit Dehydroepiandrosteron ohne Kofaktoren bebrütet und es wurden unter anderem 7-und 7-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosteron und 5-Androsten-3, 7, 17-triol charakterisiert. Die Ausbeute an 7-hydroxylierten Metaboliten war fast gleich in Hoden und Epididymis.

Neurohypophyseal origin of a humoral factor restoring volume natriuresis in acutely hypophysectomized rats

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass die Natriumund Wasserausscheidung hypophysektomierter Ratten durch ein Hypophysenhinterlappenextrakt korrigiert werden kann. Es handelt sich dabei nicht um ADH und das natriuretische Prinzip scheint auch vom Oxytozin verschieden zu sein.

Rhythmic control of intercostal muscle spindles

Zusammenfassung Afferente Impulsentladungen wurden an der Katze in Pentobarbitalnarkose von einzelnen Hinterwurzelfasern (Thorakalsegment V–VII) abgeleitet. Muskelspindeln und Sehnenorgane wurden identifiziert.Die Muskelspindeln zeigten meist einen ausgeprägten respiratorischen Aktivitätsrhythmus. Motorische-Fasern, der intrafusalen Muskelspindel-Innervation wurden selektiv mit Lidocain blockiert. Dadurch wurde gezeigt, dass die afferente Entladung der Muskelspindeln wesentlich auf ihrer-Innervation beruht. Atmungsrhythmische als auch statische-Aktivierung wurde gefunden. Bei inspiratorischen Spindeln erschien rhythmisch erhöhte-Aktivität meist gleichzeitig mit inspiratorischen Muskelkontraktionen. Während künstlicher Atmung wie auch nach völliger Halsmarkdurchtrennung, konnte die gleiche rhythmische-Aktivierung demonstriert werden. Die Spindeln werden anscheinend durch einen spinalen Reflexmechanismus gesteuert, der offenbar den motorischen Atmungsantrieb verstärkt.

Metabolism of a pharmacologically active pyrrolidine derivative (prolintane) by lactam formation

Zusammenfassung Prolintan, N-1-(-Benzylbutyl)-Pyrrolidin, wurde in Kaninchen durch ein Mikrosomensystem der Leber in das entsprechende Laktam, N-1-(-Benzylbutyl)-Pyrrolidin-2-on, umgebaut. Das gleiche Stoffwechselprodukt fand sich auch im Gewebe von Ratten, denen das Medikament gegeben wurde; allenfalls Spuren davon wurden im Urin der Ratten ausgeschieden.

Summary The sterol fraction from leaves of the potato plant,Solanum tuberosum, was found to contain a minor constituent, the structure of which has been established as 4-methyl-5-stigmasta-7,24(28)-diene-3-ol (I). This sterol is most probably identical with ₁-sitosterol and has the same constitution as citrostadienol, differing only in the configuration of the ^{24 (28)}-double bond.
